Name and shame the dealer. Sounds like they are trying to pull your pants down.

Sorry to hear of your sound problem.

This may sound obvious, but have you tried moderating the volume using the controls on the steering wheel?

Yeah I was going to ask if the problem was the volume knob on the unit.... so yes try the volume on the steering wheel...

Yeah the controls on the wheel are the same
I'm convinced it's a software bug
But updating the firmware did not work

Yeah sadly the reboot doesnt work

This sequence I found on you tube does seem to work
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r540d-pcw40

But I have to do it everytime I start the car thanks to VW

The issue was not loud sound before I took into those idiots, now no sound, untill I complete the above process everytime I start the car

Gonna do some more research into this, it seems a common issue. Im just really surprised there is no one here thats had the issue?
Is there a separate amp anywhere?

Have a look on honestjohn. He regularly recommends electronic specialists for this sort of thing. Ask him if need be, all free. £5.5k is criminal.

£5.5 K says, to me, that they don’t want to do it.

Try these people:

https://vw-retrofit.co.uk/

They fit OEM nav units to Golf's without nav. They have parts and technical capability.

I have seen people say that a Mib2 nav unit is only £650 supplied and fitted.... I expect they can fix your problem for a few hundred quid...
