What replacement battery did you fit ?
« on: 21 July 2019, 20:35 »
Hi

Looks like I might need to replace my original 2013 battery.

Does anyone have recommendations for which battery that’s not main dealer ?

Am I right in thinking it is a AGM or is it EFB as some companies say it’s either ?

And can a independent workshop code the battery in your experience?

Thanks

Check Euro car parts as they've always got weekend discounts off. Pretty sure it's AGM for stop/start cars and any decent garage will be able to code it in. If not then plenty of people with vcds or OBD11 will be able to.
TCR, Pure Grey, DCC, Dynaudio and Climate Screen.

Nice price for a BOSCH with a 5 year warranty.

Anyone with an obdeleven can code it for you, it's pretty easy.

Good price, I had the RAC out and they fitted the same battery for about £190. 5 year guarantee and he did all the recoding.

Not sure this is much help but I just checked my 2016-plate GTi and it came with a Sebang EFB battery 6R0 915 105B.

Mine still seems OK, always 70 - 80% when I check the state of charge. It will no doubt be due for replacement soon as 7 years might be pushing it.

I will go with Varta or Bosch 096 AGM when the time comes. Many bad experiences of so called value batteries.

For info - mine seemed stuck at 80% leading up to it failing. I ended up with jumper cables in the boot (just in case) which I only needed once when it went totally.

My "state of charge " on the MFD was showing 0% for some time, despite a few good runs. The stop start hadn't been working for weeks and the display screen said "Power Consumption High".  I hadn't yet got a "low battery" warning but i sensed it wouldn't be long coming.
My car is just over 3 years old. I took the decision to replace with a Halfords (Yuasa) 096 AGM and they coded it too. Just about every single warning light came on when fitted, all but one disappeared upon driving, I had a persistent ACC Error afterwards but this has finally cleared now too.
