make sure it's not one of the Irish imports, very highly specced but without the numbered badge etc

Should be pointed out though that there is no badge on a standard CS from factory, those were being stuck on by VW UK (you won't find them in Germany or any other country), presumably to make CS buyers feel some of the 400 limited CS-S exclusivity  ?   That's why it's only a number, not the usual  "no. x out of y" indication as the production was not quantity limited. Hardly a fault I'd say and personally I wouldn't like any dealer to stick a non-OEM plate that means nothing on my car.

Badge aside are there any other issues with Irish CS's?  Asking out of pure curiosity, not familiar with that market.

It certainly worked on me and I don't think my badge is straight haha! I think they just have a shorter warranty (2 instead of 3 years) and have to be flagged as an import to insurers but they were all fully loaded with kit!

VW Dealer is telling me heated seats can be retrofitted with button same as OEM in centre console. This true?

I'm sure it's possible but wouldn't like to think how much it would be!

I wasn't bothered at all about heated seats until I had them for the 1st time in my Ed35.  Since then I've always spec'd them, but a lack of them wouldn't be a deal breaker.

There's no issue at all with them. They all come from the same factory after all. VW Ireland basically exported a few to the UK that failed to sell here. Most of them were very well spec'd (buckets, Pro Nav, etc), better than UK spec.

The 3rd year of the warranty might be open to question. All new VW's in Ireland come with a 3 year warranty but I'm not sure if the 3rd year is factory or irish dealer only.

Being an owner of import Irish CS I can confirm the comments about them being fully spec'd, the bucket seats are really very comfortable on any type of journey, on twisty journeys the supportive element is top notch!  Will it affect future value?...no idea really, it didn't bother me one little bit not having a badge, I was more interested in the kit it had and seeing as currently have no plans to sell its not an issue (informed the insurers but were told it wouldn't affect premium although I feel happier they know)

ps now and again I do like having a toasty backside when its cold (they heat up bloody quick) but agree with Exonian that it can feel a bit odd on occasion??!

Sorry M88ony, I seem to have derailed your thread with my import comments.

The bucket seats are the best seats I have ever seen and whilst I'm happy with the standard ones, I do wish I had them in mine to be honest. If you can get one with them, that may well be the best solution!

I wasn't trying to slag off the imported Clubsports, I was just trying to make M88ony aware (if you weren't already) that there were some imported and from previous posts on here not all the dealers were completely honest about them. I personally would have been disappointed if I found out down the line (completely different if I had bought one fully informed). I think we all agree that the spec is fantastic (I think even panoramic roof was standard!) and great that the insurance didn't change too.

Whichever route you go down, I'm sure you'll be happy - it really is an awesome car.

@ Andy28 I think it was a good point to raise, as you mentioned salesman we dealt with was not forthcoming about the import aspect until I'd found out about UK cars having badge and wondering why this one didn't.

@ M88ony, as others mentioned, heated seats standard with the bucket option and available with the winter pack option, not sure about the retro fitting possibility? Good luck with your prospective buy, as andy stated it is an awesome car
