Uploaded a vid to youtube. Not sure how to embed it here but this shows quite clearly what the issue is!

Thanks all.

To me that  just looks like your low beam is way out of adjustment.  Not sure how it would have suddenly become so mis-aligned, but worth a try.  At least you can say to the dealers you have explored alignment, which may save you a visit, as this is probably where they would start.

Mine were adjusted too low from the factory, which I remedied, but not to that extent.

Not sure if the low beam adjusts separately from high beam, but try adjusting the right hand low beam up to match the left.  Then see if the RHS high beam is pointing at the stars or remains aligned.

The headlight adjustment screw is at the rear of the headlight housing facing upwards - you can't miss it.  It takes both allen key and a cross-head screwdriver.

Good luck with it.  That must be very annoying at night.

No mate low beam is spot on. When the big pool of light appears that's supposedly high beam. Your thinking that big pool is on low beam and I need to adjust the drivers light up. I tried that before and was blinding every other poor sod on just low beam then and lighting up signs 1/2 mile up the road !
So I lowered them both back down to a sensible level where the light nicely ahead without dazzling. There is a vid on youtube I'll try and find that was someone test driving their new golf at night and the difference between theirs and mine is unreal.

Looking at the vid I can see why you'd think that the pool of light was low beam. That's my Galaxy S8 having a hissy fit thinking night had suddenly become day when focusing on the pool of light so dimming the whole scene. Apologies for that.

I’d send the dealer a copy of the video so the service advisor and service manager can see with their own eyes what the issue is. I don’t think they’ll still be able to say it’s one of the features of the Golf’s LED headlights or that the technology just takes time to get used to!

@Mick.r; That’s clearly not as it should be. Hope you get it sorted soon.

I would not recommend adjusting the headlights without carrying out the correct adjustment procedure via diagnostic software, could potentially cause damage to the headlight motor components which would be £££ to fix!
