Nearly new was my first option but a 6 month old car with 6000 miles was more than new offer price, and on PCP was £80 a month more.  So would go down the PP route before that at the moment

Yeah that was the same with me.  I originally started looking at nearly new, but it actually worked out more than a brand new car due to the zero contribution from VW and the much higher finance interest rate.

Nearly new is expensive if you are looking at (VW) finance.

Worse interest rates by quite a way.

Plus you might get more or less car than you actually wanted.

Plus side is that the car is available sooner.

Given that the PP has a longer delivery time is it not worth waiting until the standard GTI is available at end of July and order exactly what you want?

Dealer has found one to my spec in the UK not another dealership.  If they don’t sell it this weekend then it’s mine.  The other one obviously wants to keep their prospective customer happy.

If I get it, it will be this month instead of Sept or later!

You should have plenty of choice - I'm after one with DCC. No chance.

They are all "hard" to find, even "standard" 5 door manual in black because that is a choice between 3 doors and 5 (about 25% will be three door), manual vs DSG (about 30% will be manual) and black is certainly not the most popular colour out of ~10 different colour choices - probably 10%. Then there is the possibility of dozens of different extras which you don't want. Probably 90% of the cars out there have some other extra added.

Nothing "easy" about your spec... and then it needs to be in the part of the Uk that you are prepared to travel too...

I'd do the mathematical probability but my brain hurts too much!

Definitely slim chances though.

Good news.  GTI sorted.  Should get it in a 2-3 weeks, and got a holiday in between so hardly any time at all.
