Thanks for the interesting write up.

I have a PP with this diff and have actively researched and followed as many articles as I can find.

I assume you have seen the Borg Warner video?

https://vimeo.com/102644851

Thanks for the clarification of the XDS settings and interaction with the diff, that was very helpful.

  • Other brands of washing powder are available.
Thanks dave.

There is so little information from VW on the VAQ and how it works.

I still think that Borg Warner video would make a good cure for insomnia. :grin: 18:30 to 33:30 is the most exciting 15 minutes. :huh: :grin:

golfdave, while we are analysing videos.

What do you make of the DAP;  "Increase the Traction on your MK7 GTI Performance Pack"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xlZ6gghqGY&t=119s

<lock electronics>
<acoustic measure wiring logic>
<increase traction>

I haven't changed this on my own car, what does it do?

The only thing I can think of is increasing the oil pressure from the pump, pushing the clutch pack together?

Cheers.

i tried watching that video a few months ago and it bored the tits of me too!

wonder why did they fit this if it heavier, more complicated, less robust and more expensive than a normal mechanical diff then?

Thanks...

er big cheap deal from Borg Warner??...buy 1,000,000 units get at 50% price??....

that's my only assumption...other than the usual sales pushing from the manufactures to the car brands whose marketing depts. say we can sell this & up-sell it as "X"...

I just find more & more marketing BS these days.....& having to dig down to actual facts takes more work as its getting buried...even the BW video is full of powerpoint middle management BS & padding......what they actually said on technical stuff could fit into half the video...

VAG seem to like the adjustable modes on their cars so I suppose this set up gives the ability to offer various modes where a mechanical diff is what it is.

The golf diff is really subtle in comfort or sport. I’ve felt it get a bit confused now and then on bumpy roads coming out of corners but overall it’s really good.
