Brake Pad Noise

Thinking of taking my month old Golf to the deealers.

I've noticed that when the car is driven slowly and I apply the brakes I can hear the brake pads applying against the discs.  I can only hear this when driving slow - but driving faster with engine noise ect I don't tend to hear the noise.  Could this be a binding pad, sticking piston?  Problems with the pads?

The pads do run close to disc to dissipate water.
There is a VCDS setting to disable it if required.

Mine is the first car i've had with an electronic handbrake, and I hear noises from brakes applying and releasing far more than on any other car i've had.

To be honest, I've put it down to a characteristic of the car. There are no warning lights, and the car doesn't appear to be detrimentally affected when stopping or when pulling away. My Dad's Land Rover also has an electronic handbrake and makes similar noises. I'll monitor it but i'm not overly concerned.

I've never really noticed it and I'm compared it to my other Golf  What does the VCDs setting do?

In this weather you get a sheen (patina) of ferrous oxide (rust) on the discs after the car has been standing overnight which makes a lot of noise until it gets removed by the pads.  I notice it all the time.

I've covered 100 miles today and still have the noise as I've described at the end of the day and the car hasn't sat.

brake drying, it holds the pads on to get rid of water while driving, normally set to active from factory (well it is in mine)

You should have bought a GTD, you would never hear it

If the brakes are binding you would smell it and the culprit disc would be hot as hell after a few miles. They are noisy for the first few miles even after 4 years but clear after a few stops.
