S2T paddles Group Buy
« on: 30 December 2017, 17:01 »
Currently running via the Golfmk7.com forum until 19th Jan 2018.

$170 per pair seems a steal (plus $45 postage).

Roughly £159 all in. Could always club together with a few members to split the US postage??? I wouldn’t mind coordinating if anyone interested. 10 paddles attracts a delivery charge of $185 (split ten ways), plus say £5 to post onwards in the UK if collection not possible.

Got a pair of these to fit.
If I didn’t have a set already, I would definitely be in the group buy. Decent savings.

Had mine on nearly 2 years now and after the pedal box, the best mod I’ve done.  They are simply superb quality replacement shifters, best you can get imo. If you use paddles a lot, and want quality oem looking shifters that properly feel part of the car (not stuck on over existing) then this is one group buy well worth signing up to.

Some pics of B3 style in Anodised gloss black in this thread (plus fitting info which is a doddle).

You know, I use to constantly drive the MK6 with the paddles also our MK7 not that I've driven it in months!
In the R I just don't need them and rarely use them, I think the pedal box and power negate the need personally, and I drive in Normal mode with PB in Sport. Everything happens as fast as I need it to.
Arrived 15/5/17 Mk 7.5 R Lapiz 5dr DSG, Prets, Pan Roof, DCC, Rear View Cam.
Our other car is a Mk7 GTI DSG 5dr Tungsten, Vienna, Rear View Cam, Park assist.

It’s ETTO regards drving style etc.  I use the whole gamut depending on mood, roads and many other things - Drive, Sport, Sport manual and paddles. And when using paddles (I use them quite a lot), I like ergonomic well designed shifters, makes for a much much better shifting experience.  I think I probably like things to happen a little faster than you do.

Doubt that :wink:maybe it’s the extra grunt. I only use sport and paddles when racing GTRs,911s etc when I can find them. So sport is for special occasions, nice to have something in reserve.
Also cost of those although ‘nice’ is crazy in comparison to the PB. Straight of the McClaren options list.

Haha!  Doubt away.

I’m not comparing them to the pedal box in terms of value for money.  The pedal box is brilliant but of kit and superb vfm, but this thread is about S2T shifters.  I’m saying that, ime, they greatly enhance manual DSG driving if you use paddles a lot. And for me, being one such person, they are worth the money.  I loathe stick-on paddles so the fact they are full replacement shifters is very important.  Many other offerings (not all) are stick-on or screw into the existing oem paddles and that’s a no-no for me.

You are close to fitting a stereotype as in being I want it before I think I do!! I still look for commensurate value can't help it, but totally get your appreciation of quality. We all come from different places but I always go for quality albeit that compromise of cost.

Btw I can't upload pics of my lovely with photobucket it seems the 3rd party gremlin has struck, any Free alternatives Booth and ta for the pointers to date.

If you are referring to me.....what a load of crap you talk.

I bought nothing (apart from a water filter, after years of battling hard water detailing black cars) for my R, including pedal box and S2T shifters, until I’d had the car and had run it for several months completely stock. By then, it had become very apparent that a couple of things needed addressing to remedy areas of increasing disappointment with the car, namely the throttle response, and the oem paddles.  Regards the S2T shifters, there was a long lead-in time to purchasing them.  Before the mk7 R, I had DSG mk6 and mk5 GTI’s and put up with the crappy stubby plastic oem shifters for years but finally, with the mk7 R, decided enough was enough, and if VW were going to persist with continuing to fit such poor shifters, then I would replace them once and for all.  So I hardly think driving with oem paddles for nearly 8 years before finally buying some S2T’s constitutes “I want it before I think I do”.

As for photo posting, see your other post in the other thread and the helpful suggestions in there from forum members.

I do seem to have hit the sensitive spot. I am thanking you for your painstaking donations to this forum and myself, but at the same time reminding you not everyone can 'afford' your recommendations.
