The 2 seats doesn’t really bother me I swapped a lotus for the CSS
I have a daily driver as does my wife and the thought of putting the kids in my ‘good’ car every day doesn’t appeal!
The problem I have with the CSS is ones with over 1000 miles on aren’t selling and are massively cheaper than low miles ones
It’s a case of don’t use it in fear of losing on it or use it and lose out a lot.
I test drove the ed40 when it first came out and liked it. I think the biggest difference between the 2 are the cup2 tyres obviously and the suspension set up.
I think it’s prob 85% what the CSS is. The suspension on the S is superb
Basically the ed40 is near enough the same but I would be happy to use it and leave it on the driveway and put the kids in when needed
I see. Personally, putting money on a car as an investment never made sense to me, probably because for that amount of money I'd choose more traditional investment options. But I think there is some contradiction here or you're not really sure what you're after. If you insist on seeing the CSS as an investment (a view that I don't share) then I guess you have to keep it in the garage hoping its price goes up and be happy with that and buy something else for your fun, but not sell it. Most investments need time and patience after all. If you enjoy the car as you say you do then just go ahead and enjoy it and again not sell it. Selling is an option only assuming that you don't want to worry about how its value will evolve and want to get rid while losing little money (or none depending on your achieved sale price).
I think it's also too soon to realize which factors affect resale value and by how much. With just a year after production cease naturally low mile examples will be selling for more, but you don't know whether in 5 years time they will be still selling for that much more than average miles CSS's or even worse low/average miles CS's. It's a gamble.
You're right, in my previous post I forgot the tires which are a big aspect as well. So basically, PSC2 and hub carriers and CSS camber settings and I think if you were in a manual 3-door CS you wouldn't be able to tell the difference for 99% of the time.
However, I think the best choice at the moment would be hands down a PS4S for basically anything out there that is not track-exclusive. Practically all the performance of a PSC2 with all the usability and high (as in better) wear index of a PSS. Phenomenal performance on the wet also. I just keep reading so many amazing things about that rubber and how it introduces all the latest innovations from Michelin that I'll probably switch to 19" alloys just to be able to run it.
