Urgent... car will not open

Just got back to my car and it will not open. Keyless entry. Button on fib doing nothing. No lights flashing.

Isn't there a key on the fob to open the doors manually?

Drivers door, the part of the handle that does not move..look under it & there is slot next to bodywork..insert key & turn gently to ping off the cover to reveal a key slot to insert the key as per normal..

Sounds like you need new batteries for your key fob?

Just on way back to car with spare... think it might be battery in five.. thought it might have warned me?

Hopefully you get in and it’s as simple as replacing the batteries.

Phew got in with spare, sorry was panicking a bit as was stuck in a car park with only a learner driver at home and I could not fathom at all that the battery could have gone. Car is  less than 18months old. OH will surely gloat that his Ford tells him when the battery is getting low. Thanks for the help will make a note of the alternative entry method, the manual would've helped of course if it hadn't been locked inside the car!

Glad it’s all sorted.  I had the same problem with one of my previous cars that had keyless.

Keyless I’ve found the batteries ony last 12 months, so you’ve done well to get 18 months life.. I’ve just had my second battery replaced at second service FOC, first one was replaced at first service.  But you should have had a repeated warning on the DIS, sure you didn’t just miss it?  As others have said, you can always get in if battery fails by flipping the short section of the door handle off using key in slot just underneath, and then open old fashioned way.

Definitely no warning Booth11, unless I need new varifocals! Will practise the manual way in daylight, be prepared and all that.
