Timing of oil change service

I bought the >1yr old car service plan from vw

Amazing how many dealers don’t want to or don’t know how to sell you this

£287 for 2x annual services. Saves about £100 and no price rises.

As it’s a low mileage car it needs doing every 12m

Second year inclides the air filter and cabin filter as well I think

My car has done 850 miles now and will have about 1200 miles on by the time it’s due I expect as it will be not used much over the winter

Tell your local dealership if they ever want your business again then they'll change the date. What a set of toss pots!! Mines incorrect and my local dealer is servicing mine and fixing it and also changing the service schedule. You could always just ignore the service screen and get it serviced whenever you want 

I did think something along those lines. Then I found you can reset it simply by holding the odometer reset. Took two seconds.

The dash indication just a timer based on time/mileage so is often incorrectly set by dealer, e.g. the clock starts ticking at PDI which may be several months before a customer takes delivery of the car.

Service schedule advises the service interval should be calculated from first use, rather than PDI so e.g. if car is built August 17, PDI September 17 but not delivered until Dec 17 service is due Dec 18/10K Miles if on time/distance regime.

How strange, jumps in CS today and 30 day oil service message comes on!!  bought it in May done 2200 miles but from comments on pdi dates then its likely ticking down to 12months on road, I'll call in local dealer see what they say....useful posts cheers guys

If it’s counting down in days the date is wrong, if it’s counting down in miles your oil is needing a change due to its quality, which is unlikely on 2200 miles.
