MK2 Ice

Rite,

Iv'e got a 10" infinity reference 1040 sub, a pioneer DEH-P6300R headunit.

I use that running of a SPLX 350 watt amp, and the dub rear speakers

Basicaly im looking for a decent setup in the car, and from what iv'e read the general advice is to not bother with 6x9's just go sub in rear and decent componets/tweeters up the front.

Is my sub and amp a decent one? or should I get better ones? Im bascialy asking for advice on this front, also does anyone know were I can find out what sized enclosure is best for the sub?

And what size/make of components am I advised to get?

Thanks people.

I wouldn't go and get new replacements just yet. Get some front components first, go for 5 and a quarter" components to go in door pockets (you'll need the speaker adaptors if don't already have them). If you have £150 or so for Audioscape pods then get those and then buy some 6 and a half inch components instead.

Is the SPLX a 4 channel amp? If so use 2 channels for the fronts and bridge the other channels for the sub. Have a listen to it and see what you think.

If the SPLX is a 2 channel, you have 2 options.
1. Buy another 2 channel amp and use that for the front components.
2. Get a 4 channel amp to save space and weight and easier 1 box solution to power the sub and the front components.

SPLX is by no means good, it's not even average but look at what i've said first. You don't always need to rush out and buy something better as if it's badly installed it will sound pants regardless of how good the kit is.

Yea I heard SPLX is not the best

I think im gonna have to build some door pods to house some nice big components, like 7.5" or summit, My m8's gonna have a go at buildin some or im sure someone on here can.

Then I will prob buy another amp to power the lot TBH, looking at amps now.. what amps are recommended by peeps?
