Winter wheel fitment?
« on: 07 September 2017, 19:34 »
I have a set of wheels (AudiQ3) and before I flog them and replace, will they fit the Mk7.5 GTI?

Wheel Size: 6,5Jx17 ET
Wheel offset [mm]: ET 33
Rim width: 6.5J
Bolt circle [mm]/number of bolts: 112/5

If they do fit, I only need to replace the tyres with some that match the original rolling radius of the 225/40/18 tyres.

No, the wheels will stick out way too much from the arches with that offset

According to willtheyfit.com they will fit, poking out nearly 10mm more than the standard 18" which is still ok but at 6.5" width you'll probably have to use 205/50/R17 sized tyres as 225 will likely be too wide for the rim.

They will fit fine with the right tyres, something like a 205/50/17

OP; as your Golf on order is the GTI Performance model with the larger brake disc and calliper assemblies, it's also worth checking that the design of the spokes on the Audi wheels aren't too thick front to back, so they'll clear the larger brake discs and calipers on your Golf.

And yes, you would need different tyres so the overall rolling radius of the Audi wheels with tyres fitted is the same as the Golf with 18" wheels and 225/40 R18 tyres fitted, otherwise you'll get a speedo reading error.

^^^^ Yes but they'll look rubbish without spacers with that offset (which is an Audi A3 offset).

I have similar on mine as winter wheels, I use a 5mm spacer and they clear the calipers fine.

Ok, so ideally... what should they be?
