6-speed v 7-speed DSG

I may be going crazy - but reading VW UK material the new 7-speed DSG is fitted to the PP version and the standard GTI retains the old 6-speed box - is this correct?

Why not have the same box in both cars?

Yes that's correct. I guess it sells more PP and uses up old gearboxes.

I have the "new" DSG 7, and think it´s a realy nice upgrade from the old DSG 6.

Like to have the same DSG as the new S3 not as the low premium cars as the Skoda and Seat.. 

But serious a get a better millage on this with the 7gear

I think it is to do with torque ratings. The PP's extra 15 ft lbs of torque pushes it beyond the limit for the 6 -speed.

Go on then how much extra mpg, I assume you're going by that comment with a direct comparison in like for like conditions.

My Mum has a 1.2 Polo with a 7 speed DSG (before everyone scores points about theirs being bigger than yours  )
