PCP Handback process - silly procedure.

So, my GTD is due back at the beginning of May, so I have contacted VW to arrange for it to be picked up.

They use British Car Auctions who will contact me,  But, what is bizarre is that they have to come here twice.  Once for the inspectiona and appraisal, then another date to pick the car up.  So not only do I need to be here and have the car available (obviously) for two days, what happens if the car incurs damage between the inspection and pickup dates.   Not very well thought out at all..

On that note, is anyone in the market for a well looked after GTD with 33K miles ?

I have a new GTD 7.5 on order, but this time it is a lease rather than a PCP, due  middle of May.  I did look at lots of other options, but the DGS GTD just seems to do everything really well - Will be the first time I have changed a car for the same model.

The car has £16,500 (ish) to pay to buy it from them as a balloon payment.  Dealer wasnt interested taking it off me even when we tried a like for like PCP, as I suppose they cant get enough out of selling it on, so I checked out the leasing route.  I would much much prefer to sell it to someone privately, just so that VW cant turn it around and make some easy money.

I have a GTD on personal lease with VWFS, finishing at the end of this month, and am going through exactly the same process. Two visits, two days off work (potentially)  -  and struggled to get the current end date to co-incide with the arrival date of my new GTD.
... and I agree, what if something happens between the two dates ..? I suspect the collection guy just collects it, and does not bother if there is any damage etc.

How common is that?

I've heard people say that the price offered can be right down to the GFV, leaving you no deposit for the next deal, but I've never heard of it falling flat like this!

The quote for a like for like (in fact it was lesser spec-wise)Golf on a PCP was over a £100 more a month than I am paying now.  He was suitably embarrassed  and suggested just handing mine back. That would be with nothing given back to me on the current Golf.

 I think VW are going to catch a real cold over these PCP hand-backs in the coming months.  Someone in Finance 3 years ago was having a very bad day with the predicted values.

On a positive note, the VW fleet sales guy I am dealing with regarding my new PCH is loving it, as he is getting loads more private leases from people like myself.

The GFV did seem a little high TBH, but I have heard people say on here that some of the original Mk7 PCP deals were loaded like that. On the other hand, you've made the savings over the years, so its VWFS who are really screwed.

My dealer is telling me to voluntary terminate my PCP as it's not going to even break even at the end of the contract.

Oh yes, definitely VWFS will be screwed and yes, I appreciate my Monthlies were lower because of it.

Just done a WebuyAnycar quote and it looks like I could be better off giving it to them (certainly no worse off), than handing back.  Will wait until a day or so before it is due back and then decide.  If nothing else, it wont waste two days of my time waiting for two separate appointments

Not sure whether it is worth trying Private or not.  It does have some extras that mean it is worth more to the private individual than the trade, just not sure it is worth the hassle.
