USB media playback issue
« on: 14 February 2017, 15:56 »
I've got the MIB II standard system, not nav pro.
This happens a lot but not everytime and has done it from day one.
When ever I change media source from say CD or phone via bluetooth, to USB, or even switch from radio to USB, my USB media collection starts from the very first song on the first album.
Unfortunately for me, that means Politic from Coldplays first album :embarrassed:
I know I could always delete it but then I'd have to listen to the first song off whatever album came next.
Anyone else suffer this problem ?
Hope I've explained it well enough :undecided:

It happens when I switch to my Ipod sometimes (the Ipod is no different to USB really).

Sure, if I unplug the ipod from the car, fair enough but sometimes it just decides to start with the first track from the lowest alphabetic artist - Abba in my case.

Its annoying.

Mine is MIB1 NavPro btw.

Do you have any any pattern to it at all where it doesn't do it?

That's pretty bad if its doing it when just changing source. Its as if the USB device has lost all contact / power with the car system and then when you select it again it thinks you've just connected it.
Have you tried a different high quality lead in case the pinouts are different?

I know I can't access Car Net app with certain leads, yet they appear to work with the phone in all other ways. So possibly something like that.

Can you try another USB device? is it still the same? With the same lead?
Just try and rule various things out.

I'm just using a Kingston 16gb usb stick. It's annoying but I assumed it was something that happened to everyone.
I will try another brand of usb stick and see how that goes.
Thanks for the advice

I would go down the lead road as it seems to be losing its connection between sources.

I'd say its not the lead, based on my Ipod using its original high quality Apple cable

The connection never fails any other time either.

Its something else.

USB seems flaky as funk on these units.

Whether app-connect starts seems to be based on:
the lead
starting the app on your phone before connecting
the day of the week
which side you got out of bed

When it works - Google maps via Android Auto is awesome. Speech recognition is excellent, re-route around delays superb. But then it will all go missing as if you have unplugged it and you are left with no navigation and the need to punch something.

With regards to audio playback - SD card use is spot on. Always goes back to where it was, never cuts out, album art all works. Basically, it works. Which feels like a revelation in comparison to USB stuff.

I agree - USB is a bit random and SD cards just work.

I still don't understand why app connect needs to be plugged in - yes I get the "safety" aspect, but on other marques they are quite happy to do it over bluetooth and/or wifi.

My connected MP3 player also tends to play the first track of the first folder alphabetically, also Abba in my case
I usually set shuffle mode, but when I switch on the next time I have to reset shuffle again, which seems a bit complicated, hitting the right part of the touchscreen on the move
