Booth: Where have you been to have picked up that much dirt in a single day? You do wash and polish your car daily, right?

Twice a day actually.

I took it to Hell and back.  I have renamed it 'Event Horizon'

Mine is reasonably clean after my keying damage got fixed last week. I'm pleased to report that the repair is almost perfect. A different chipsaway franchise quoted me half the price of the other 2 places as he'd done a Lapiz blue before and said it was a relatively easy colour to match (surprisingly). He was confident that he would only need to do the rear quarter panel and blend in a little of the roofline. He was right. There's only 2 tiny pinhole sized voids in the lacquer layer (they aren't up to the surface of the rest of the paint) - looks like 2 tiny bubbles in the lacquer layer have burst to leave that void. It will need 2 miniscule dabs of lacquer to fill in. I've looked at it in bright sunlight, overcast and under LED lighting at night, it looks perfect for match and top layer texture matches the rest of the car. All that and all my stonechips seen to for £160.

We knew you'd planned the dirty pics just so you could do the clean ones!!

Amazing as ever.

Nearly as amazing as your lunch breaks must be if you had time to pop home and do that!!
No wonder my council tax is so high!!

It's good to see Mr Wormy didn't leave any fossilised remains too.

I was stuck in traffic last night behind an A180 in met black which had just pulled out of a car "wash" and I was admiring its swirls lit up by my xenons. Obviously I immediately thought of your car at that point Ms B and the difference between a good black cleaning regime and a typical car owners cleaning regime.

The xenons also picked out those triangulated Civic-esque exhausts that the new new Mk7's will be getting by the looks of it.
Obviously we know the triangulated sections are just shiny trims but my headlights picked out how tiny the actual exhausts were tucked away almost hidden.

So let us make the most of having four proper exhaust tips that are real exhausts while we still can!
I wonder if they'll put fake exhausts on high end models when we are all driving electric cars in a few years time as a bit of "heritage"?

You do me an injustice Mr Ex.  I hadn't planned to wash it till next weekend but an unexpected cancelled meeting  at work meant I could take some of my accrued time off in-lieu (they owe me hours and hours!) and de-worm the R. So I grabbed that opportunity as the thought of another week of it in such a state was to much to bear!  I wasn't going to bother posting any pics but after having to give it 2 washes (it was dirtier than it looked in the pics) and saying farewell to Mr Worm (jet washed into oblivion) I felt it was justified, lol.

Please don't mention those triangular tailpipe trim thingys.  I really cannot come to terms with those on a Golf.

Yes, I'd noticed that on the Canterbury Council twitter feed:
Quote
"Park bench painting committee meeting postponed due to chairman-lady being called away on urgent business due to a rare fossilised worm being discovered within the city, the 'what colour brown shall we paint the benches before the gov't removes yet more funding' meeting will be rescheduled at some point before the next round of gov't cuts"

I'm all eyes and ears me!

Cheeky.

Park benches can wait, my car was in greater need.  Now, about your council tax bill...

Can't believe you clean it, thought you might leave it all winter and detox from the detailing world.

I can't believe you can't believe I clean it through winter, lol.  I do not subscribe to the 'leave it all winter, the dirt will protect it theory'.

I no longer subscribe to leaving it for 6 months either. I left it the first year and the paint felt terrible in March, so didn't do it again and won't leave it so long this time.

I have just completed its full clean since spring this year (SF,wash, korrosol, tardis, clay, detox, hand polish,2 coats of HD wax)ready for winter and while its quiet therapeutic, a day and a half is not something I want to tackle too often, but I worry about doing a quick winter wash being worse for the paint without the full works.

Whats your quick routine? Without introducing too many scratches, being a black car you must need to be even more careful?
