Finally got me a GTD!

Hi guys,

Been driving a mk6 2.0 140 for almost 5 years now and decided its time to treat myself again! Found a nice priced GTD 25 miles away. Pick her up on Tuesday, August 2014 5 door in tornado red with 40k on the clock.

I think i remember reading somewhere that you can tell which factory extras the car has by the chassis number, is this true?

I didnt see a navi button on the radio but there is a mode button at the gearstick so im guessing it has the adaptive chassis control? I cant actually remember what the standard GTD spec would have been in 13/14 and i know its been updated in the past year to include more extras as standard, looks like ill have to wait and see!

Hi Jonny, that looks great and in the best colour

The mode button switches between various aspects of the car (throttle response, steering weight for example) with three settings that come up on the central display plus a fourth (Individual) where you can tailor the settings yourself. This doesn't mean it has DCC though. If it hasn't then no big deal, comfort is good on my 19s so should be very good on 18s.

You can check the extras and spec on the VW website iirc (was on a recent thread) but you need the codes from your service book. Someone else will no doubt clarify this soon.

I see you have a tornado red GTI, what are they like for tar spots? I actually had nightmares about tar spots on my candy white mk6, really put me off buying another white car!

Can't see a roof "fin" aerial, so prob no satnav, sadly. Standard after MY15, so it must have been close. VW do an aftermarket unit with satnav, if you need it.

You will still get tar spots with red, though they don't show as badly as on white.

As above, not had any bother with tar spots. Main thing is how much stonechips show up But the TR really does clean up a treat, love it!

Tar spots on that candy white destroyed me, i remember going through a full bottle of tar remover 2 or 3 times a year

Dont suppose any of you guys know what the tech pack consists of? When I first seen the car, the wing mirrors were pushed in, and im pretty sure when I had the keys and had unlocked the car they were out lol

Mirrors will collapse on locking and unfold on ignition or unlock (depending on MY)
