Make sure you give the climate control a good work out too. They don't like being idle.Whack it up to the max cold.Get those gases flowing round the system.

Oh ill be sure to give her a good blast all round haha I actually read up somewhere about the compressors failing, ill make sure to check the air con has been serviced!

Sounds like yours has a great spec, so hard to find a second hand one with dynaudio, none of the 5 door ones anywhere in NI have it lol

Do the GTD's have any common faults? A few quick searches on here had just mentioned the air con compressor but other than that they seem bulletproof!

Yeah, most of the used ones i've seen for sale have been 5 door manuals in red, black or white with no extras at all.Saying that, they are still loaded with kit you'd pay extra for elsewhere.
I've not heard of anything major to worry about with them.Do not know if they are still reliable when they get to 5 or 6 years old etc.But that's for the next owner to worry about.
Don't worry if you sometimes hear the fan running on after you switch the engine off. That's part of the DPF regen cycle.

They do have a great spec dont they! They all have xenon as standard also isnt that correct? My old 2.0 TDI 140 always done that haha never ever seen the DPF light on it thankfully!

This will be my 4th Golf, first one with a button handbrake, not sure what to expect! Lol

Yes they have a whole load of kit as standard.Try speccing a BMW and you'll see what i mean.I had an M135i and if you wanted lumbar support for your seat it was extra.
Yes the xenons are standard and very good they are too. They even do a little levelling check every so often.Up,down, left right.I haven't seen any other car do that.It is good entertainment.
You'll love the electronic handbrake. It is a very good system (most of the time).Basically you just forget about a handbrake in traffic. The system detects you are temporarily stopped (in traffic) and applies the brake. You see a green 'P' on the dash.Press the accelerator and it releases in a split second. All you have to do is pull up the wee lever. when you park up.Then you see a red 'P' on the dash.Driving off after start up (in the morning) you don't have to touch a thing .It releases itself( as it does in traffic).
Rarely it's a pain in the arse. You go to move forward in traffic and it doesn't release (for whatever reason).
Annoying but only once in a blue moon.

You don't even need to pull the parking lever switch either. Just let the car do it's thing.
TCR, Pure Grey, DCC, Dynaudio and Climate Screen.

A few people do this, they probably don't realise that when you turn the ignition off that the hold switches to handbrake, they put the handbrake on manually before they switch off.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....
