Having spent the last three years at the wheel of mk7's I took out a friend's newly acquired mk5 GTI the other evening.
Just a basic spec 2005 GTI and all the better for it, I'd forgotten what great cars they were and they still look really good too.
It felt like a proper GTI devoid of a lot of the needless gimmicks.
No radar, no silly driving modes and certainly no gesture control.
A driver's car.
Mind you, the ride felt a bit hard. I must be getting old (or the bushes and dampers were worn out).
