Already a convert as my last post testifies as momentum is £1.17 and V Power is £1.27 locally

Would personally only put the premium fuel in the R and only would not if needed to fill up in place where not available

Looks like going to get 290 miles from my 11 litres (£60) fill up as more local driving this month, should be more mixed next

Edit: It got to 260 and maybe if brave could have gone to zero range, but was down to 15 miles, so that was 260 miles at 23.1 MPG as average on would say 70% town to town/local driving and couple medium stretch of legs. So another £60 put in of momentum at £1.17 liter.

will get less MPG in the R obviously but be doing less mileage so think about an extra £20 a month in really money for me as think 600 miles month will be the average opposed to the 750 miles month average over 3 years on GTD

What have added is more FPM (fun per mile 😉) as loving the R and it's getting plenty of looks and turned heads to sound (maybe not as recognised as an R but Lapiz, Pretoria is eye catching combination anyway and then you must notice exhaust and of course then hear 😎)

Loved the GTD hugely capable but on wettest of days today was able to move around as if on a summers day and with all mentioned above the R felt a great place to be

Over 2000 miles now

Averaging 24.9 MPG with a high of 39 and a low of sub 20

Would say I am likely the main demographic user, of truly mixed driving, mainly local with some medium to long runs thrown in each month so would say that 25 MPG is a good expectation if you not do long runs regularly.

Tesco Momentum is the sole fuel used.

Honestly say that do not look at the fuel now, this is still for purpose of those looking at an R (though Face lift and 7 speed DSG may, may! improve marginally)

What else?

every time just shoot away from from lights, junction on a wet road is a true moment of satisfaction, my #1 frustration now completely removed.

Noise of the exhaust is addictive, and having listened to the mirror version of my R side by side on Motorway it sounds even sweeter.

Mainly think due to the engine, used DSG 90% of time in GTD, where that's now 65% for the DSG in the R as there is more fluidity and responsiveness in using paddles, and selecting Race on local routes. (DSG too aggressively geared as you would expect for local routes)

Not much more to report other than that as just love the R, look forward to driving it each and every time, immense traction, fast, light and responsive handling, and comfortable too, cannot think of anything else could wish for really.

The only negatives are minor scuff on rear that will see to in Spring

Couple of minor nicks on the Pretoria driver side as wife got in a jam as some lorry blocked an entrance and she nicked them squeezing out, it happens, and if get more that really detract will look at getting them repaired, but its a filthy animal at moment so certainly not noticeable.

Last one is a technical one, that seems to have rectified itself and that's the black screen of death, where media unit is just blank and you have to reset the software (hold on button till button lights blip)

Had to reset about 10 times over a week and was going to take in after the holidays, but been about week now of no issues, and so not a biggy and just seeing if occurs again .

This does seem an overall issue with MIB 2 from looking around with no real cure, other than attempting updates.

Great review thanks.
Given that I'm moving from a GTD to a DSG R in the next week or so it certainly interested me.

Sorry Bec never noticed your reply.
5dr DSG Lapiz, Tech Pack, Keyless, 90% Tints, Pretorias & Rear View Camera.

I never really thought the Keyless would interest me but after using the good lady's car that has it for a prolonged period, I found myself really inconvenienced having to get my keys out and press a button then break sweat putting a key in the ignition and turning it

Seriously though it's so convenient.

Pick up day is hopefully this Thursday. Its also my first DSG. Having only driven the Audi equivalent for a day or so, I'm a DSG virgin so it will be interesting

Really nice spec, all the important things.

You will enjoy popping your DSG cherry Stevie, I'm sure.  Requires a difference approach but after a good few solid miles you'll wonder why you didn't convert earlier.  As for keyless, it's great isn't it.  I almost didn't spec it and just chucked it in at last minute as a novelty item, but by god I'm glad I did.  I love it.

Where you buying from JCB again?  Is that you on the R forum - RoundSquare?

DSG is a dream in the R as engine really matches up with it well so its so quick and seamless in change and engine response.

DSG is set up correctly for Race, but unless you have a long stretch to push it (as you would expect it holds the gears through rev bands) you might find you will push it into manual (paddles)

Threw key less in more out of curiosity and though could obviously live without it you have to love it also, the button itself is just a  way to start car up.

Rear View camera is my biggest struggle to adapt to, as rarely look at it! Default reaction is still to reverse like always have and still look around over shoulder.

enjoy the collecting :)

Thanks. Looking forward to it.
I generally wouldn't go from a car to the same car as I get bored easily but I think the fact its manual to DSG will make it feel like a different car.

I had the reverse camera in my Mk6 that didn't come with sensors so I used it all the time.
So I think I've just got into the habit of using it.
Although it comes into its own when getting in or out of a tight space as I can reverse to an inch or so safely to what's behind me.
