Clock changing
« on: 01 November 2016, 23:35 »
Does the Golf not adjust the clocks changing automatically?

Our's never changed even although it was set to take the time from the GPS. I had to go into the Time settings and unselect the summer setting.

I had to do the same, and remember having to do it last year too.

Thanks. As long as it's not just me.

Cheers for the VCDS link I'll have a look.

Interestingly after unticking the summer option the GPS is out by 1minute.

Yeah I had to do the VCDS tweak too, but interestingly my Mrs. Leon FR (Mk3) already did this without the need for the VCDS tweak.

I have the vcds tweak as well. It makes no sense.  The option is there but not available generally for reasons I guess?

Most things that set the time like that receive a signal with the which the clock understands, but the signal is constant throughout the year, unless the clock knows the date and has been told to adjust to winter time it won't do it  (it needs to know the date to know when, not all countries adjust their clocks for winter so it needs to be told to do it, if it can't be told or doesn't know the date, or both it needs to be done manually).
Suffering from a severe and unforgiving case of GTItis

I can understand why it can't change because of the GPS time signal (GPS does send time, but its always UTC - those satellites don't send out special times for particular time zones lol)

On the other hand, my computer (which also receives time in UTC) knows when to change the clock because it also knows that I've told it its UK... if I set it to a US locale it would change the clocks when the yanks do it (which is this weekend coming).

My Golf is also told that its UK - which means the time and date format, the speed and fuel readings and headlight dipping direction are all set to typical UK values... so why not BST/GMT swap overs?

Again, as before, the technology is all software, the car is capable, they just can't be bothered to give you a well thought out product but still charge you thousands for it.

Current: Mk8 GTI DSG, Adelaides, DCC, HUD, HK, Winter Pack, Rear Camera.. Aka "HMS Weasel"

Gone: 2017 Mk7.5 GTD,manual, NavPro
Gone: 2014 Mk7 GTD, manual, NavPro, DCC

It further doesn't make sense though because the software is there and working on the Leon (and I assume the Audi) that uses the same media/computer system.
