Bit of a mess...
« on: 06 September 2016, 07:44 »
Been a while since i posted on here but thought i would come and show you the damage inflicted on my GTI yesterday.

My elderly neighbour did this with his Honda Jazz.  I suspect it was a case of mistaken brake pedal since his car is an auto.  Heard the loud bang and looked out of the window to see this mess.

Needless to say I wasn't best pleased, I'm kind of impressed he managed to mount the bonnet so high though!

Not a lot can be said about that, is there? Sad for you, but you seem to have taken it as well as is possible.

I once helped a neighbour recover his elderly dad's car from the garden beyond the back of his garage. That was a new automatic, which he'd only just got. Drove it straight through the asbestos wall! The car was covered in small scratches. Only his car damaged, though.

Hope you get it sorted without any bother.  :embarrassed:

I still don't understand why people would tell the internet about their damaged cars. You'll want to sell it one day.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I used to think the same Simon, but people do want to share this kind of thing with those that understand. And at least there's an honesty about it and in almost all cases on here good reputable repairs done with repair warranties so what's worse - buying a second hand Golf and having no clue as to whether it has had damage, been repaired and if so how and to what level (quality of repair etc) or, knowing that there has been damage, which let's face it is becoming increasingly the norm to due rise in idiot drivers on the road, but has been properly repaired because the enthusiast owner won't settle for shoddy back street workmanship?  I know which I would go for.

Well put Ms B.

There aren't many cars on used forecourts that haven't had some paintwork and even brand new cars aren't immune. Many of the cars on the forum are chopped in anonymously anyway but most enthusiasts will push for a proper repair rather than just a cheap fix and blow over.

The forum is a community and it's apt to share both good and bad news.

My sympathies Monsta. I feel for you.
