Just had a lovely bit of heavy hail, and now the roof and bonnet have a new effect on them any idea what the best thing is to do. Insurance or pay myself

Yeah I know really hard to get a good picture roof and bonnet covered in 5p sized dents very annoying!!

Wow, hailstones in July, WTF?!

I've seen that happen before and you are going to need a good PDR (Paintless dent removal) guy to sort it out. A good one should be able to fix it 100% but it will be time consuming... is the roof / bonnet literally covered in them?

There was a huge hail storm at the port of Emden in July 2013, when all of the first MK7 GTDs and GTIs were just starting to come through - there were thousands or wrecked VWs sat dockside awaiting their lift to the UK and Scandinavian ports.

Yeah literally covered in them about every 6" can't believe it my neighbours car is terrible!!

If I were you, i'd get a quote for repair from a dent removal specialist. If it's significantly more than the excess on your insurance policy and you've got protected no claims then i'd be going through the insurance. Your insurance will probably go up a little, but not much as it wasn't caused by a driving accident.

It's quite a regular phenomenon apparently, there are teams of dent repairers that move around to wherever has had a storm.

If it's happened to you then it will have happened to your neighbours so I would just go through your insurance company, they won't penalise you too much other than losing your excess.

Think I will end up going through the insurance, our no claims are protected so not the end of the world crazy weather was 30oC and bright sunshine 10 mins before!!

That's mental... I'd always associate hail with freezing conditions not the 25-30 degree sun we've had the last week.
