Front electric window 'comfort' closing
« on: 11 July 2016, 14:23 »
Over the weekend the 'comfort closing' aspect of the driver's window on my 2014 5dr GTD has stopped working (I have to now manually hold down the button - first world problem :O)  The other three windows will still 'comfort close' fine (ie flick the switch and let go and glass will continue to raise or lower by itself).

Has anyone else experienced this on their Mk 7 Golf at all?  This is my fifth VW in a row and I've never had it before.

Have you tried restoring the one-touch function as per the owner's manual on page 65?

I think this has cropped up quite a lot with a few people experiencing it on the mk7 - just reset it as per the above post.

For those not prepared to read the riveting manual or can't remember where they stashed it, here is the procedure:

1 - Close all windows and doors
2 - Switch ignition on
3 - Pull up the button for the offending window and hold it in this position for longer than 2 secs
4 - Let go of the button then pull it up again and hold it in this position. One touch opening and closing now ready

Mine has had this problem for ages - its only the drivers window with the problem though.

You reset it and its fine until you next turn the ignition off, then the problem is back again.

Local dealer says "nothing wrong"

Reported mine at service time,  was told it was a known problem but no cure yet.  Reminds me they have not called me back about that or the stereo freezing.

Works fine after reset but forgets about once a month

Thanks for the replies all - I did then read the manual, and the 'fix' from there was easy & immediate (all good).  However I hadn't 'disconnected the battery' or similar in the first place, it had just stopped working, so time will tell whether my driver's window has now unilaterally adopted a 'I'll forget every month or so' approach to life and I'll keep having to re-set it....
