Service due soon
« on: 06 July 2016, 17:30 »
'Oil service in x miles' has now started showing the past few days, however, it seems to be counting down to what will be 9300 miles on the clock when it reaches 'Oil service in 0 miles'. Thought it was 10K? or is it giving me an early warning of an early warning?!?  Its currently showing 900 miles to go, which will be less than a month for me.

Will have to take it to Arnold Clark as I have a service plan from them, and all of the VW dealers in Strathclyde area are AC. Will also be instructing them to get it changed over to flexible servicing as I don't want to have to take it in every 6-8 months with my milage! - if I was only doing 10K a year then I wouldn't have needed to get a diesel! If they disobey this instruction, I will get straight on to VW customer services, as it clearly states on the website FAQ that it can be changed over and I know others on here have said the same.

I didn't think they would sell you a service plan if you were on flexible servicing. Service plans are for fixed intervals so I suspect even if you ask they won't change it.

It is about 9300 miles and some change - this is because it is actually counting down to the mile equivalent of 15000Km. Ignore the "Service now!" warning for 700 miles and get it done at 10k miles.

They can change the service regime to long life, but if you're on the paid for service plan you'll have to stick to it because you've paid for interval servicing.

As already said VW Financial Service plans are for fixed servicing intervals not Flexible servicing periods.

I'd be interested to see where FAQs allow you to change your current VW Financial Contract without financial adjustments to flexible servicing.

You can choose any dealer you wish to undertake your servicing under the plan.

I do high mileages and having my car serviced twice a year where I choose is no real deal if I'm honest with planning ahead and the use of a loan car ( OK a Polo or basic Golf unfortunately but its only 24 hours )

This is a disaster,I use Inch Bathgate because they're not AC my closest dealer is AC at Wishaw.

My car will be coming up for its first service in a few months, and now have no idea where to go now.

Thanks for the replies everyone...

Mine was a pre-reg car (so technically used) and it's and AC service plan not a VW one. After this service, then I have 1 more on the plan so will get it changed then as I won't be renewing the plan. I'll certainly be asking them about flexible servicing when I put it in for this one though to see what the response is, even though as per comments above, I don't expect them to change it whilst it's on the plan.

You can't be far from my Garhan as Wishaw is my local dealer too, although I got it from the VW Crow Road dealership in Glasgow. I'm not used to going in and demanding things with any of my previous cars, but I will really want someone to walk around the car with me (whilst I take photos) before I hand it over and also will be make it abundantly clear that under no circumstances are they to clean the car (I'll put in my wo-wo 'please do not clean my car' sign of course as well as telling them!). Haven't decided which one I will take it to yet (Wishaw near home, Crow Road near work), so if anyone has any comments on either of these 2 dealers then let me know.

Main reason to get it changed is the cost of getting it done almost twice a year, once I will be paying for it that is. I guess the alternative once I've used up the plan, is to talk to my local garage that has serviced all my cars in the past, as they should be able to do it without affecting the warranty so long as genuine VW parts are used.

I've had a couple of unexpected trips down south since I got the car, so that's shortened my time to get to 10K from my normal usage by a couple of months.

Taken my car to Crow Road for its last 2 services and never had any issues. Told them not to wash it which they agreed and was absolutely fine. Booked in for my 3rd service with them on Friday

My neighbour who is a vosa inspector and always buys VW,prefers Crow road. He's been round all the dealers either to have his cars serviced or,in a professional capacity.

Then again they know who he is and take care of his car.
