"Sorry for delay in responding but been away on my jollies

Well all I can say about the tuning box is WOW and WOW again.

Car is totally transformed and with the added pedal box it is a beast! And I mean a beast. I gotta be real careful when I put my foot down now as it is really flying before you can say, 'woohoooo'.

It just keeps pulling and pulling. The pedal box helps for the lower end range and when you hit 2500rpm+ it is like you have a rocket booster attached to the back of the car. 4th gear is like 3rd gear and so on. The torque now feels amazing and it really does bring a huge smile to your face

If anyone is undecided on getting one, take the plunge and go for it..... I promise, you will not regret it. But be warned - this is definitely a threat to a clean driving licence.

Fitting, for a complete novice like me, took all of 15-20 minutes but you do have to get the front end up for one of the connections and I initially struggled with this one as the sucker didn't want to release but a few scrapes later it gave up and I won."

Please keep us updated ..I am thinking of one of these for my manual pp but not until its a year old and the insurance is due, but I would like to know it wont cause any problems with the car before I do buy..thanks

My Pedal Box turned up Tuesday, great service from DTUK and nicely discounted too.

Looking forward to the OMG moment once its been fitted as I didn't think the pedal feel could be that bad but after an extended drive last weekend it needed to be resolved.

Will report back once fitted

I just had one for my Birthday, Kalimon. Same situation - hard to buy for!

Going to fit it this afternoon and will be back with a GTD report.

What's the update Dan?
I didn't fit it yet sorry Stevie. It was pouring with rain and I've then either been working or catching Pokemon.

Will attempt to fit either today or tomorrow!
Or... yesterday

Fitted last night, only took 10 minutes in the dark with my phone as a light! Rebecca's photos from this thread were a massive help: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=276517.0

I was fortunate and the connectors came apart and went together easy, so no issues there.

I've just been out for my first drive and played with a few settings. It's definitely a big improvement on the standard GTD pedal response - any perception of lag seems gone, and laying down power is like small gentle squirts of the pedal - instead of flooring the whole thing.

It gives the sensation of a heavier pedal strangely, I guess because it is responding to you so much more directly. One strange side effect is my brake pedal now feels very soft by comparison!

Having the box in the drivers glove box makes adjusting it very easy too, almost like it was meant to be there!

After trying all the modes I have settled on Sport 0 (no extra lights) for now. If I go any higher the whole car thumps with a surge of torque at the smallest press! This was when testing in the Golf's sport mode and 3rd gear at 2200rpm, and no doubt the extra torque of the DTUK box is to count for this (which is running in 2 +2 mode).

Once I get used to it I may find I can use a higher setting, but I'm not sure my passengers will appreciate getting thumped in the back quite so often if not

Interested to hear your experiences Stevie with your similar car setup to me.

Well that's rather good isn't it, set it at Sport+2 and am very impressed with the difference it makes to the car.

As has been posted prior it just brings the car to life and the accelerator is a lit more linear in its operation.

Thoroughly recommended, nice addition to the car

I'd love to have a go in a DSG with a pedal box at some point.
I might try and blag one for half a day from a dealer when they're quiet and fit my pedal box to it.
I'm not fussed whether it's an R, GTI, GTD or whatever as I'd just like to see how the gearbox responds to it in normal driving situations.

It feels a lot better in manual gear operation as obviously in D the car scoots up through the gears far too quickly, that said it a marked improvement.

Also max of a 10 min job to fit, very easy thanks to Rebecca's guide

Does it kick down more readily or just allow you to utilise the throttle better while staying in the same gear?
