Not sure about the look of the Clubsport period to be honest :undecided:
It's got a 'designed by Homer Simpson' look about it,  for anyone who remembers that episode

To each his own obviously but I haven't liked another sports yet daily car as much as the Clubsport in the recent years. Standard GTIs are everywhere and rather undramatic really, while Rs are even more understated. To me the Clubsport looks exactly like a special sports/performance Golf should look like, having the special bits at the proper places while retaining that Golf class at the same time. Slightly more aggressive and muscular but nowhere as overplayed as a Type-R or Subaru or even a Focus RS, especially in a darker color like the metallic grey or black. I think they nailed the design in this one. And that interior... wow. I think I'm going to come up with some very silly excuses to spend as much time possible in there.

I ordered my mk7 GTI in 2013 with the specific hope that is be able to have an Edition 40 in 2016.
As soon as I saw the pics of the CS I was really deflated. It reminds me of a Sturgeon or something. Not the prettiest of fish.
I'll reserve full judgement until I see one in the flesh.
Dynamically I'm sure it's very very good and I'm really pleased for those that have ordered one.

I do like the silver, the colour really tones it down but shows the lines off well.
I was admiring a silver 5 door with the optional 19s on Instagram the other week.

Agreed. I actually think it's the best looking golf since the mk 2 big bumpers.

The right stylistic touches in just the right places.

Rs are unbelievably common near me (company lease schemes?!) and I've no doubt this will look unique on the road.

Orderded ours 5th April and got order number around the 20th or so.

Still at stage 2, but dealer mentioned it would be locked for production soon.

I'm guessing September the 1st earliest for delivery?

I'm totally with you on this one as it just feels all so subtly unique/special to me but as every other car, it's dead on impossible to be everyone's cup of tea. That would be rather strange really.

As a general note though, the amount of threads in VW forums for retro-fitting the Clubsport's front/rear bumpers, wing, diffuser, exhaust tips, steering wheel, bucket seats etc. etc. is rather telling of its appeal to other Golf drivers.
