There's already one connected on to the brake fluid cap, the rest used to go on the old Pierburg carb so I'm guess they were for the automatic choke..

The single red connector in the second photo has to go somewhere surely?

Still not able to get it firing up :/

Thanks

Hes only got 1 wire stray.
If you go on a2 services there good ce1 and ce2 diagrams to see where things go.

That wire cant be far from its plug though

Got everything going!

Sadly we've come across some backfiring in the carb when you put your foot down.. Trying to find the right mix, but it's still popping.

Any idea?

Might need to adjust ign timing a touch. Sounds like its sparking while inlet valve is still open slightly

Yeah we've been having quite a battle with the idle mixture, idle apeed and distributor timing, but we've still got some carb popping.. We've also started getting over run when the ignition is turned off.. Used to have that on the Pierburg which is odd..

We're so close to having it finally set up!

I do have a small hole in my exhaust, but that shouldn't make the carb backfire right?

Exhaust shouldnt.
Over run is carbon build up in the bores. A qood fuel additive or something thats ment to decoke the bores will solve that.

Knock the mixture screw off and then tuen 1/4 turn at a time until ir starts. If ign timings bob on shoupdnt be too far away then.

When your doing ign timing are you pulling the vac pipe off so it doesnt advance

Okay cool. I always use 'Redex' and actually have a full bottle in the boot so I'll throw that in next time I fill up.

We managed to sort the backfiring out, but when we took it out for a drive there was a real lack of power. It was really struggling when you put your foot down, like really bad, so we turned to the ignition leads/plugs.

We had a dead lead and 1 plug wasn't sparking all that great, but by the end of a long very hot day, we managed to get the car on the road, and what a beautiful noise the new Weber makes!

We're still having issues with a slight lack of power when you put your foot down, it kinda chuggers a little until you reach high rpm which by then you can't really notice it. Had to be a timing issue.

Tomorrow we get the timing gun out to check it and hopefully see about getting a decent set of plugs/leads!

Thanks,
