Dynaaudio - Worth Getting?

Just a quick question, I currently have a Golf R on order.  I also currently have Dynaudio in my GTI PP which is excellent.  Does Dynaudio on the Golf R come with the sub which sits on top of the space saver wheel in the boot.  The reason i ask is the configuration description for Dynaudio states amp & 8 speakers, with no mention of the sub? 

It will be great whether it comes with the sub or not, but just curious if the description should have the sub mentioned on it as well.

Thanks for the quick reply, I had a feeling it would, but another reason I was querying was I remembered when the R first came out it was several months before Dynaudio was an option available to spec...  Which led me to start wondering if there was a reason for the delay when the R was launched i.e. sub in the boot etc,.

Yes it took VW quite some time to figure out squeezing the sub into the boot of the R because of the Haldex system.  I delayed placing my order until they had sussed it out.  Glad I waited for it.

I've had DynAudio on my Nav pro for the last 2 years and think it gives a great punchy sound. No distortion at all at any volume.

My wife got a GTI with the standard stereo with no DynAudio at the beginning of March. I've used this quite a lot recently.

To me its every bit as good. Its not as punchy or the same clarity and the volume doesn't go as high as DynAudio if thats a consideration but in a car environment cranked up with the right equalization settings there is certainly not £500 worth between the 2 systems.

I don't think I'd add it next time.

Without sounding like I'm trolling, surely you've contradicted yourself there?

You say the standard setup is just as good, then go on to say the standard setup has less punch and clarity?

Admittedly (as you say) being in a car environment does slightly level the playing field but (with a decent source - IE, not low bitrate MP3s, FM or DAB) there really is a significant difference once a Dynaudio setup has been 'run in' and adjusted correctly.

What I meant is the standard set up is good. If you haven't Dynaudio to compare it to I think you would be impressed.

I take your point re setting up Dynaudio properly but the same could be said for the standard system. Once set up properly they are both miles better.

I have a 2014 Gti with Dynaudio, and yesterday test drive a new R, also with Dynaudio.  I could not believe the difference. By comparison my front speakers have about half the bass response. The installation in the R was immense, although technically should be identical.  I am wondering if they put the standard speakers in my car by mistake  or they really have improved the system that much in 2 years?  Come to think of it when I changed from my 2011 Match also with Dynaudio I remember being disappointed with the lack of bass 'punch' on the Gti

I was wondering if the difference between my 3 door and the test 5 door may make that much difference. Luckily it's not going to be a problem for long

Our Mk7 is one of the earliest around, so it may be that the system has been changed or updated over the years, as to me it seems odd everyone is rating it so well, when the one we have clearly is not that great.

How have you got your standard system set up Steve?
I've got my bass near the top, the middle setting about 3/4 and the right hand one around half way.
Sounds ok to me but going from my tastes in music I'm probably tone deaf anyway!
