Dynaaudio - Worth Getting?

Have it on the Mk7 GTi we have now, and I actually ticked that box first, but have never been blown away by it at all.

I was hoping it was going to be night and day, but for me it was just ok, and not worth the extra investment to be honest.

My sister has the standard stereo in her GTD and I have Dynaudio in mine and there is a big difference between the 2, if you've already got it in your current car I'd definitely go with it in whatever you are thinking of ordering next, at £500 it's not exactly overpriced either

I have it with the Tech Pack, at first I was not overawed but after a few hours of use the speakers have settled/worn in and I really like the sound and its adjustability.  I think it is a very worthwhile upgrade for anyone who listens to music on the move rather than just having it as a background.

It is often forgotten that all speakers settle in after several hours of use and the sound correspondingly improves

I think you'd need to hear them both back to back to notice the difference and be using a decent quality sound source, not some 128k mp3 of a crap recording.

As said above, if you genuinely like music its a no brainer with the tech pack now.

If I get another Mk7 (jury is out currently...) I'll spec it.

I didn't have it on my R but I did on my GTI before that, and I would never buy a Golf without it - the difference is night and day.  That's not to say the standard stereo is bad, its just once you've had it you'll miss it.  For £535 I'd certainly add it, if not for yourself but for resale.

Quality is not subjective they are definite lifts in sound, but the need is depending on circumstance?

If long distance cruiser and mainly on your own I can be swayed to the worth, its a nice settled environment and good audio is a great companion and you can set volume to its best level.

If do mainly shorter runs and regular carrier of passengers and for most part in a disturbed environment then its not worth the additional expense as benefit is lost in the surroundings.

my usual fayre is shorter runs and passengers and tend to listen to radio and get told to turn music down! when teenagers have Ipods plugged in (as my music taste is shocking obviously)

So not going to criticise the tech, the ones I have listened to are really decent but the standard set up is not rubbish, you get some decent clarity and pitch and so its not worth the expense for me, so its more about do you want to impress with your high end tech and can afford to (previously had Bose in Audi and always got comments to the speaker grills) or are that long mileage cruiser - outside of that, IMO not worth the additional

I'd argue that about any extra... if you are just going to do 100 miles a month and spend more time polishing it, don't bother with those luxuries, you'll never use them

I've had DynAudio on my Nav pro for the last 2 years and think it gives a great punchy sound. No distortion at all at any volume.

My wife got a GTI with the standard stereo with no DynAudio at the beginning of March. I've used this quite a lot recently.

To me its every bit as good. Its not as punchy or the same clarity and the volume doesn't go as high as DynAudio if thats a consideration but in a car environment cranked up with the right equalization settings there is certainly not £500 worth between the 2 systems.

I don't think I'd add it next time.
