Back on topic.

I do love Capris which are nearly as cool as Mercedes saloons thinly disguised as Sports Coupes.

I'm surprised there are any Capris left now as they were pretty rusty a few years down the line from new never mind 20 or 30 or 40 years even further down the line.
I had a couple friends with V6 Capris and loved the noise they made and the fact you could wheel-spin them at will at any time. Well i was young at the time so simple things like that impressed me!
Ok, I'll admit it, they still do impress me.

My first car was a mk1 Scirocco and I wonder what they're worth now if there are any left. They shared a Capri and Alfa trait in that they turned all brown and holey after a few years.

Had a 2.0 S but never really took to it, looked lovely in blue (did have some rust spots even at comparatively new) but never really liked the ride, drive and was awful in wet and visibility was not great either.

Did like the 2.8 though and the Police used them unmarked as found out the hard way

Wanted an RS2000 (yes the Professionals inspired both the Capri and wanting this) and was saving but one mad summer went and bought a nearly new MG Midget on impulse so that was end of that, as actually really like the MG, suited my single days, though sadly them days long gone haha and its sensibility now, well that was until just pushed button on an R (still have the buzz so forgive me!)

Other cars liked at time were mainly friends, a Lancia Delta, till it capitulated in a pile of rust, and a Renault 17, strange car but fun all the same. The most car envy had for a friend was a Scirocco Storm, loved that car.

Had a build date confirmed as early October for the M2 so should be here for Nov, got 3-4 weeks to confirm the specification

Going to enjoy the R for the summer

I think your shiny blue R will impress you no end too, it's a pretty amazing package when you look back at cars like those and think how far technology has come.

Can't wait

Doesn't sound like you're saying a reluctant goodbye to the GTD!

I had the use of a brand new 335d x-drive for a few hours a year or two ago. Hardly a long term assessment but it was certainly a fun few hours testing out the launch control etc!
Beast of an engine.
A colleague of mine launched it and it felt like a jet taking off from the passenger seat.

No not really I have had 2 535d's in the past and miss the power & torque.  The GTD was the best available when I traded my E63 v8.  It's a nice car but never quick enough even with the Dtuk box, I find the throttle response naff & driving in normal mode only getting 45 mpg.  The 335d will return 40 mpg all day long with power on tap.  My 535d return 32 even when driving like you stole it!  The 8 speed box is a dream and it's just point & go unlike the GTD which is point wait then go

A comparatively weedy GTD engine would never hope to compete with any of those type of vehicles, a different league altogether.
The engine response with a DTUK PedalBox is completely transformed but you still wouldn't have the lungs of a big six or eight cylinder engine no matter what you do as you're well aware!
Onwards and upwards and good luck with the new steed, an excellent choice of vehicle :afro:

Spent 2 hours in VW on Saturday while we 'went through my account' which lead to basically pricing up a clubsport. I got the sense they were trying to get rid of them before the 'facelift' comes out. I really wanted the LCD screen which these dont have but i still asked to see what the price was.

Anyway long story short, forget it lol, £490p/m with a £7.5k deposit. I can get an RS3 for much less than that a month, its just not worth it, so my minds made up, when the facelift order books open, RS3 it is :)

I had the same issue. It's a sham. I'm looking at an obvious choice of  a r but trying to see if there are any other suitable options.
