My sister has keyless on her GTD and she loves it, it took her ages to realise she could unlock the doors without using the fob, I guess that's the downside to leasing as the car was just dropped off to her without any demo of what anything does.

My must haves up to now have been 1.Bluetooth 2. automatic 3. Leather

I've had to sacrifice leather on my GTD which I've got on order, way overpriced at £1700 IMO

I doubt the leather is that much of a sacrifice.  The quality is not the best.

I had leather on my old Audi which was great. To be honest, when I looked at the leather in the new VWs I couldn't believe how fake it looked and felt, certainly wouldn't pay for it and find the standard cloth to be excellent.

Lets be honest, not of it's essential!
If you're a tad idle, get the DSG.
Heated seats  if you live in Scandinavia .
Keyless if you keep your keys in a handbag

Having sat in a golf with leather I couldn't believe the difference in the quality of it and the leather in my CC and after nearly 22k with my bulk sitting on it it is still not marked. I doubt very much that I would be saying the same if it was a golf.

It's not marking that is the issue. It's the sagging.  The latest VW leather looks like Rhino hide - and with just as many wrinkles!  The driver's seat on mine is pretty saggy after only 6 months and I'm not hefty at all.  Can't blame it on my partner as he's probably been in the driver's half dozen times at most. All the other seats are unafflicted but clearly the seat in most use is not faring well.  Looks worse than my mk6 did after 3 years.

I'm a bit late to this party, but keyless is fab, wouldn't be without it, don't have it on our other car and its a PIA. I have leather and its ok, didn't go looking for it, but wanted a sunroof (which is fab) and the leather came with it (2nd hand car).

Leather is the only thing I'd swap, the rest (keyless, sunroof, Dis Pro, RVC, ACC, DCC, DSG is a must) in fact we're toying with swapping my wife car and other than a Audi TT (bit small and no sunroof) I can't think of anything other than a Golf - but that would be a little sad to have two cars the same :embarrassed:

Sad in who's eyes? Yours or your neighbours?

When we set out to get my Mrs a new car she had loads of suggestions. We'd be out together and she'd be like "Oh I like that car", "and I like that one"
As I've said before she only had a couple of stipulations so after looking at various cars I was always drawn back to the Golf as it had so much standard kit. Other cars might have had the keyless and heated seats that she wanted but literally nothing else for not far off what we would be paying for a Golf so the Golf won.

Albeit its 2 different versions of the golf we have in the GTD & GTI but the neighbours don't see it like that as they say "I see you got yourself another Golf"  but it matters not a jot to me.

Get what "you" want.

In fact since getting the other Golf I've noticed there is quite a lot of duplication. In our street alone in the same households there are 2 Jeep, A4's, Focus's, 3 series and minis
