Passenger window regulator
« on: 03 March 2016, 22:09 »
Hi guys just bought a 02 gttdi and previous owner had it in garage to repair and didn't fix issue
Since then the interior light flickers on and off if the interior light switch is set on to come on when a door is opened??
Also the red alarm light on the driver door I've noticed goes off at some point as when I get up in morning it's not flashing??
Also she said sometimes the battery goes flat I'm thinking that window issue Could be the root cause ? Any ideas guys I had it 4 days and not had issue with battery yet

Thanks in advance guys

broken wires going into door or the old issue with faulty micro switches in the door locks.

My money would be on micro switches. Replace the switches rather than locks.

Quick update battery flat when I got out of work
My mate asked me to check when opening doors if the door open symbol lights up on dashboard  it does on every door apart from the one the garage allegedly bodged and couldn't fix the window problem does this narrow the fault down??
Think broken wire would make sense and also ties in with interior light flickering when it's set to come on when a door opened like I say thanks for your help guys

Girl I bought car off has a code
From electrical diagnostic saying power voltage b+ signal too low
Possible cause control module wiring connectors faulty?
Power supply generator (generator battery)
Possible solutions check wiring connectors to /from control module
Check power supply battery

But I'm confused now as alarm led goes off after certain time and interior light flickering

The car is going 12 miles to work and 12 miles back

Any thoughts after this info guys??

Best to get someone local with VCDS have a look at it.

Flickering interior light is usually indicative of f**ked micro switches in my experience. Their state can be checked with VCDS using measuring blocks function of the software. It tells you if the switches read lock state correctly.

Vcds??

Do you think that would cause battery to drain and wonder if that's the cause why window won't work since this only started after a garage tried fixing or replacing window regulator

Go back to garage for the window thing, sounds like their cock up.

Yes faulty switches can cause battery drain - the car never really goes to sleep (control units) as it thinks doors are still open.
Cost wise..... from fix yourself for tens of pounds to hundreds at main dealer (who will change complete locks)......

VCDS is a diagnostic interface for VW (and Audi, Seat Skoda) cars.
