Temperature warning light on start up

Try cleaning the electrodes in the expansion tank.
No faults does not mean nothing is wrong - OBD2 dongles are rubbish at properly diagnosing faults.

Had this on several MK5s - replaced the expansion tank and the alarm was no more. Its about £25 and takes 10-15 minutes but must be done when the coolant is stone cold.

Golfs (and other VAG's) have been doing this since at least the mk4 era - fix is to ignore or replace the coolant tank cw sensor.

The 18% is just the country's VAT rate.

You need to go to "maintenance/settings" and change the options under country Settings, like below.

Replaced the tank at lunch. Guess I'll know if it's solved the problem tomorrow morning when it cold!

Of course I dropped one of the screws down a plastic channel..

don't drop the screw, don't drop the screw, doh!!

Will have to fish it out with a magnetic pickup later.
