We tried some off an early A3 yesterday....they DID NOT FIT!!!!!
they DO FIT  I have audi wheels on 2 of my mk4s

Nice looking wheels, but I somehow doubt that they 15" diameter!

Anyway...it's quite obvious that I'm p1zzing you gurus off with my endless questions, so I'll just bow out and leave you too it.

I've located a Mk4 with a blown motor, but decent wheels, so I'll buy that and use it to learn as I go...the wheels will come in handy anyway!

Bye.

your not pissing anyone off if you had said the wheels you tried were 15inch then we would have agreed due to size of your front brakes they probably wouldn't fit

Ah well yes they could be too small if you have a 4WD and the Audi wheels have come off a small engine model.

The smallest size that will fit should be on the label on the fuel filler flap. Being a 4motion that'd probably be some 16" wheels, doubt you'd need to go for 17".

Fair enough...no one ever mentioned, or asked about wheel diameters. As you know, my vehicle is a 4 Motion, but none of the aforementioned stickers are present, so I had to throw myself onto the forum and ask stupid questions...you are also aware that my car came with a set of hand books written in Italian (which I don't read well) and I had to resort to the forum again. Contary to popular belief, MK4s ARE a very rare vehicle over here, particularly in my configuration....more questions were inevitable and there will be more to come, if you can bear with me.

The saga with the wheels has been solved...this morning I collected a burnt out wreck which had blown the motor on a trip from Germany...the subsequent fire burnt the interior of the cabin and killed the driver, his wife and three kids, but did very little damage to the exterior of the car. I got it all for the 10 pound recovery charge, but all I need is the brand new alloy wheels and tires...less than 2000 miles on all of it. What remains of the vehicle will be sold off by me and after consultation with their family in Germany, the proceeds will go to them to use as they see fit.
