If you look on Instagram there are a good few photos of what are clearly hire GTI ClubSports from Austria and southern Germany.
It strikes me as a bit odd why VW would supply limited edition cars to hire companies like this when they're supposedly restricting build numbers or production slots. Is there not the demand from customer orders in these countries? If have thought GTIs etc would be really popular in the alpine areas.
I asked a friend who works at the HQ of a hire and leasing company and he said they have no ClubSport orders in and in fact (unusually) don't have that many VW's on the books right now. They seem to have a lot of bmw's on fleet at the moment. He's personally using a 125d which "goes like an express train"
I wonder how many ClubSports will be bought second hand having previously been ex rental cars that were hired in Germany then taken to the 'Ring for a bit of a workout non stop for six months?!!
