I've got a dilemma now.
The R isn't an option for me.

So let's say a CS with seats and big wheels is £33k  do I jump into my wifes 235i and run that or sell that for around £30k and spend extra getting in to the CS

That's an amazing looking car with a great engine.
I can't believe you'd rather have a Golf than that.

Personally I'd buy a Golf to go *with* that but not instead of.

My wife would also kill for some pillars like that outside her house. She's got a thing for houses with pillars, she watches too many American films.

WOW at that price. Glad I didn't wait now. Looks like my R at £25400 was a bargain!

Sorry guys I have been off today and Sod's law it launched today.....

VW0399-16

Prices and specification for the fabulous new Golf GTI Clubsport Edition 40 have now been announced. This iconic model opens for ordering today (Friday 1 April).

Key dates

1 April
-    Open for order
-    Price list, flyer and landing page on volkswagen.co.uk

5 April
-    Quotable in Connect Online
-    Available on Configurator
-    Available on Blended Retailing tools including Personal Digital Brochure

18 April
-    Start of production for Europe

Volume and lead times

As this special edition model is available in limited volume to a maximum of 1,000, we’re asking each Retailer to request their allocation. We have pre-ordered one Golf GTI Clubsport model for each Retailer for demonstration purposes. Further details on this will be published shortly.

Remember that production volumes are limited, though, so make sure you ask for a realistic number. You will then be more likely to get the units you request. If more than 1,000 units are requested by our Retailers, we will allocate accordingly.

Given the limited production capacity and expected high demand we anticipate extended lead times of up to 24 weeks. Please manage customer expectations accordingly. No stock or showroom orders will be scheduled for production to ensure that the available production slots are filled with customer orders.

Please complete this form to tell us how many of these highly anticipated vehicles you’d like allocation for, but note that we cannot guarantee allocation.

Engine and specification

The Golf GTI Clubsport is the most powerful GTI ever, with a 265PS engine that also has a boost feature which increases power output by 25PS for 10 seconds.

The 6-speed manual gearbox version sprints to 62mph in 6.0 seconds; the optional 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) is even faster at 5.9 seconds. Top speed is 155mph (manual).

With the manual gearbox, consumption is 40.4 mpg (combined) and 162g/km CO2. The DSG version offers 40.9 mpg > 40.4 mpg (combined) and 158 g/km > 160 g/km CO2.

Available in 3-door or 5-door versions in both manual and DSG transmission the GTI Clubsport has high specification as standard including exclusive Clubsport styling inside and out, alcantara / cloth seats and Discover Navigation. Full specification and new options will be on the website Tuesday 5th April. The Price list including the GTI Clubsport is available now on volkswagen.co.uk.

After reading the specs on this it appears to me to be a complete waste of money.
A boost feature....how ridiculous can you get?

Reading the above limited information reads also "no to very limited" discount.

With the Golf R discounts around this does seem a crazy priced car, be really interesting to speak to a few dealers though to see what they could do.

GET IT ORDERED!

I spoke to mine today also, they have to submit their allocation on Monday, I am No2 at that dealer (Deposit paid in on 3rd June!)...hopefully get an idea on Tuesday what the ETA would be.

A bit disappointed with the price but not really surprised.  With only a 1000 available they will be a rare sight on our roads....unlike the 0000's of R's :-)

Not sure its limited production run at all.

It says "As this special edition model is available in limited volume to a maximum of 1,000, we’re asking each Retailer to request their allocation"

It then goes on to say "If more than 1,000 units are requested by our Retailers, we will allocate accordingly"

Its limited to build the hype and get the orders in at a high margin price, but sounds like it is saying "if we want more we will make more"

Sounds like the Cayman GT4  or the Clio Williams.

^^^That's what I thought at first.  Or it could be that if they get more than 1,000 requests from dealers they will reduce some of the requested allocations to stay at the 1,000?
