I'm not bothering with the GTI Clubsport as I feel pricing will be close to the Golf R and no discounts will be available.
Given up on the Golf R400 also.
Just about to order a Golf R ;)

Good shout.

Besides, do you really want a face like this staring at you when you open the garage door?

Disclaimer: I also said rude things about the R and ended up owning one, so...

I've always had black cars, my last GTI7 was black.
However the Clubsport looks best in White or red in my eyes.

Can't be far away now.................

Its on my SLI ordering system with the 3/5 door and Manual/DSG option...................

Looks like things are getting a little closer at least - if you are able to give guidance, what I would like to know is what the lead time of GTI/R models are like at the moment? I know there have been long lead times, but I was quoted 9-12 months by one dealer earlier today when talking about GTI's.
That seems pretty outrageous, when the German markets clubsport cars appear to be getting deliver in something like 8 weeks or so

Anything you can offer from your knowledge here?

The dealer / sales person you are talking to is unfortunately telling you a lie. I guess he is trying to build your desire and get you to order one as soon as possible to beat the growing waiting list.......

Average lead times on R and GTI are in the region of 12-16 weeks.

Each dealer has a maximum quota of cars they can order each month so unless they have out sold there quota for the next 5-6 months in advance then don't believe a word.

We are classed a large retailer although we are only a town in the Cotswolds and I ordered 19 Golfs last week for our months quota.

The club sport however may be a different kettle of fish because they tend to only offer a limited allocation to each dealer. So for example we may only get a quota of 6 per year on the club sport, this really helps resale value. Hence why we have just offered a lady £14500 for her what will be later in the year a 5 year old edition 35.

I'm not normally a black alloy wheels fan but the Pretorias look so good in black I've decided I need a set in my life.

I think the CS looks loads better in the dark colour too, it hides that overly fussy mouth area.
Carbon Grey CS with black Prets: where do I sign?!!

My main concern over the CS edition will be its ability to put all its power down through the front wheels. My 'bog-basic' GTI struggles to put all its power down particularly between 1st, 2nd and 3rd. This is my number one bugbear with the GTI. With all the extra power of the CS, and a bit more torque, I hazard a guess the CS will struggle in anything but near perfect conditions. If I was in the market for 'even more' performance and power, which I'm not, I wouldn't hesitate and get an R. The 4Motion system helps plant nearly all available power down onto the road, even in damp conditions. That's true day-to-day usable performance. Extra power is all well and but if you can't use it.......

I don't mean to p*ss on anybody's chips. Just a reality check. However I think the CS will be collectable and hold its value well in the years ahead.

That roof spoiler still looks a bit chav though
