Heated (Climate) Windscreen Question
« on: 13 January 2016, 16:46 »
Hey all,

First topic, so - Hi

I've had my car since October and have not really considered the heated windscreen until now.

I'm a little confused, as my car has the phone kit and heated seats and thus from what I can gather, should also have the climate windscreen option. However, when I go into the climate control menu, I have no options in there other than to turn on Auto recirculation. Am I missing something, or would it appear the function is not enabled? Is this one for the dealer to look at do you think?

Cheers

The climate screen is only available if you also add advanced telephone prep.
But not the other way round if you see what I mean. You can have one without the other.
In other words, if you didn't specify the climate screen, you won't have it.
Heated seats are included as part of the winter pack now but were available on their own previously.

If you didn't spec climate winscreen then the only option you have is the windscreen max button, top button in the left hand dial, that'll put your AC on and direct it at your screen only.

Well that explains that then. I thought the windscreen was part of the winter pack, which is now standard? I guess not!

Cheers for your feedback guys

You can easily tell if a car has it as has a Bronze colour to it externally.

From the inside of you press the menu button under auto it will have an icon bottom left of the info screen showing the windscreen with a wire through it.

I can get a photo if required as my car is fitted with it.

I took some photos this weekend to show the screen in action.

So we all know this view, especially in the past couple of days

So to switch the screen on just press the menu button on the HVAC controls then press the icon that looks like the screen with a wire through it, it goes orange when active

Within a few seconds the top of the screen begins to clear the sensors at the top

There are also a concentration of heat at the bottom to heat the wipers up a bit too.

Given enough time I'm sure the screen will clear all the frost from it but I gave it less than 2 minutes before trying the wipers. This was the first wipe

I'm very pleased with it. Sadly the side windows don't clear themselves so I can't throw the scraper away yet.

From looking at the connivence consumers screen you can see how much power the car is putting into the windscreen when it's on.

Wow, that's amamzing...wish I could get that for my Mk4!

I had  a similar thing on my Jeep, but it was only along the bottom of the screen to thaw out and unstick the wipers.
Would have been handy this morning at minus 10 and fully iced windscreen.

My Transit van has a heated screen and it's fantastic.
It comes on automatically when the temp drops outside.

The one great thing about a heated garage is not needing heated seats or windscreen. Drive in and let the windows down and get into a toasting hot car in the morning.
