In terms of residuals I'm wondering if it's too big of a risk to purchase an R at this moment. There seems to be loads of them on the road and with all these cheap lease deals coming to an end soon the second hand market is going to be flooded with them. I pass by my local dealership everyday on the way to work and they've had a brand new white R sitting in the forecourt for at least 4 months. This was unheard of a year ago.

I know you can get some cracking deals just now but when it comes to trade in time God knows what you will get offered. I always thought buying a VW was a pretty safe bet for good residuals but I'm not convinced any longer.

Perhaps the clubsport is the better one to go for.
Has the bmw idea gone then  and could your contact in Gti world not get you a decent deal on the r

Im sure he could Barry, just added to my post above that I think R has become to common and not special enough. Still keen on the BMW and have made a few tentative enquirers but early days yet

Wow amazing savings to be had especially on that TT. There doesn't seem to be too many brokers out there who quote on beemers unfortunately

It's more the brokers websites than actual dealers that I'm looking for just to give me an indication of what discount I could possibly achieve. BMW are not quoted on DTD, Carwow, orange wheels etc

If you're looking for BMW quotes, the best are usually coast2coast cars.

I test drove a DSG on Saturday whilst I erm and ah over R or club sport. My 3 years finish in September so now is a good time to change. Been told that specs 'should' be released by end of Jan. So I will wait until early Feb before I actually decide. All I can say is that the power is so planted and stable even in the light snow we had over the weekend. Comes to life when you want it. I now see what everyone has been raving about.

The question is spec for me leather (is it worth It now that the nipper is older and less prone to making a mess) or the standard and paying a local upholsterer to do me a custom job for a similar price. With Reversing Camera sat Nav car net app and keyless as a must. I'm leaning towards buying my own BBS rims.

But defo leaning towards an r at the moment.

I'm the same, I have ordered a GTD estate for me but we are thinking of changing my wife's Mk6 GTi for an R, the best price we got was £33,673 and that was for a 5 door DSG in oryx white and with over £5,200 worth of extras(excluding paint) but they are so common around here that I find it a surprise to see a GTi

We are almost set on a Clubsport now though because it will be a keeper. Our dealer has said the same about the Clubsport details being announced at the end of this month so we are waiting until then to see what way we can spec it.

I'm a bit hesitant on the club sport especially after seeing the German spec and the inability to spec certain extras with bucket seats. Dealer did concede that diesels have taken a bit of a hammering on GFV due to some part to dieselgate and also the uncertainty surrounding the the future taxes that may be levied against diesels.

Either way I will wait until early Feb before making decision I have seen the offer on the S3 on DTD but that was a 3 door when I last checked plus they don't offer px carwow through back some good deals but to get equivalent spect to an r costs.
