Footwell lights - How many?
« on: 06 October 2015, 08:18 »
With the mornings staying darker on my way to work and now noticing the interior lighting, I appear to only have footwell lighting on the drivers side.  I'm right in thinking that there should be something on the passengers side as well aren't I?

I had a look on that side and I appear to just have a whole where I think the light should be.  I'm going to mention it at service time, I just hope that they believe I've not swiped it myself.

Yeah you should have 1 in both the passenger and drivers side.
I wouldn't wait for service personally as that is generally 12 months later.

Have you had a feel around in the hole?  Perhaps the light fitting has become unclipped and gone back up into the cavity.  If it is completely missing, then as said, I wouldn't wait, I'd get it looked sooner.

I was having a play around with the footwell lights last night and found that the passenger side light has a really short cable connector going to it, if someone else has been fiddling with the light I can easier see it being pulled back through the hole because of the tension on the cable.

Those lights are pushed in from the front so I really doubt it could have gone behind the trim. I cant see the light falling out as the wire to the light on the passenger side is very tight, as has been said above.

Have you had the car serviced recently? There is a high chance that somebody nicked it. Or if it is new, most probably they haven't fitted it at factory.

I currently have a GTD but I'm due to collect an R in December, are the footwell lights and the door sill lights the same colour on the R as they are on the GTD ?

Not yet, I'm wondering if it was a case of someone desperate for a spare part in a rush as it was pre reg. I need to have a good luck to make sure that it isn't hidden up in the dash first. I got the car in the 'light night' months so never really experienced full on darkness.

Thanks for the diagram dv52, I now know exactly where to check.
