Totally stuck with this clip....Help!
« on: 02 October 2015, 17:28 »
I put a new water housing on my Golf MK4 GTI Turbo 150.

Everything has gone to plan but I cant get the clip to hold the green temp sender in for love nor money.

Any ideas......

Sensor not pushed in far enough?

Check that the flange does not already have o-ring in. If you have one on the sensor too then it won't go in all the way.

Once sensor is seated correctly the clip should be relatively easy to push on.

Thanks bud

Pushed it as hard as I could with no joy. Flange does not already have an o-ring in.......Cant understand why it is not just clipping in as all the parts are from VW so not cheap ones off Ebay.

the end of the clip goes right through to the other side of the housing too, it can be a bit of a struggle especially if it's all new...

worst case scenario you could always enlarge the slits on the housing outwards slightly with a hacksaw blade

that sounds odd, just saw your other post, spotted the clip is 90 degrees different in your original picture:

New:

Try the clip coming from the from the front of the Golf rather than the side?

No worries fella - that is just the sort of thing I would do! - really glad you are sorted.
Is this AUM going into the Mk3 in your signature?
