Pioneer DEH-P70BT - Any info?
« on: 24 September 2005, 13:55 »
Anyone got any more info on this HU? I'm tempted to get it as it's got the built-in bluetooth feature and the interface looks really good to use.

Just wondering if anyone had managed to get hold of one to try out yet as i'm not sure how long they've been out.

If i dont get this i'll just get me a DEH-P77MP as i like the retro looks and it would suit the mk2 dash better

Looks like a wicked bit of kit, have been surprised it has taken this long for a bluetooth head unit to appear. Not seen it live yet, just read the spec on the Pioneer site. Think I saw it for around 250 which seems a great price. Would be a tricky decision over the 77mp as that is one superb stereo - depends if you want the gadgets or not! :)

I'm actually kind of thinking it might not be such a good idea for me anymore.

I've often got my little brother in the car and my mates all seem to swear like there's no tomorrow when they call me!

Still looks like a great bit of kit though.

I'm going with one of the foillowing three options, not sure which one yet though as they all have their good points.

Pioneer DEH-P8600MP - Nice display and good MP3 interface. Easy to search through folders etc

Alpine CDA-9855R - Again, nice display, GlideTouch control, renowned sound quality. Been told that it doesn't function correctly when it gets too hot though

Pioneer DEHP77MP - Nice retro looks, good sound/build quality, may fit the mk2 image more. Not sure if the MP3 interface is going to be as good as the 8600 though. I'm sure a few people here own or have used on of these so is it easy to search through tracks/folders etc?

My mate has the Pioneer DEH-P80MP and it is so easy to search through tracks but it's just so damn ugly!

I had the  8600, wicked headunit and you can d/l custom OEL backgrounds to it, The p70bt is a wicked bit of kit too, the only let down i seen on it is that is is a single colour OEL, as for the bluetooth tho, what would you rather, your bro hearing a bit of swearing or you losing your licence for not using hands free?

I'd go with one of the Pioneers, most Alpines i've listened to (and the one I owned) seem quite harsh and clinical when turned up but i've always like the more laid back sound of the Pioneers i've heard.

I have the DEH-P77MP and agree with re retro styling, the only thing against it would be the white illumination. It looks kinda odd with everything else on the Mk2 Golf being green coloured.
Great piece of kit tho

Can you search through folders and find which track you want before actually playing it? That's the main feature i want as the MP3 capability on my current Sony setup is sh!t. I've got a disc th 130 songs on and i need to skip through each one as i cant view folders etc...

You got any pics of it installed?

I just got the DEH-P7700MP a couple of weeks ago. Great bit of kit AND here's a tip. If you buy from America and get it shipped over it's A LOT cheaper. I paid £135 for the unit plus £25 for shipping. £160 altogether for a £300+ head unit! :)

I ordered the Pioneer P7700MP for my girlfriend's car from Caraudiodirect and it cost me £165 all in, so you didn't really get that good a deal from the USA to be honest.
