19" Santiago Problems - all 4 buckled

VW have them just now and have sent them away for "independent inspection" which confirms they are buckled.

Would I gain anything else by taking them back and getting a second opinion?

I actually have a set of Santiagos off a demonstrator on my car just now so in no rush to go out my way to go back in and get them changed back.

So VW are now saying that they will not assist me under warranty apart from a gesture towards refurbishment.

I am sticking to my guns saying it looks like a design issue or a material defect causing all 4 to buckle since the buckles are very slight and there is no damage to any of the tyres.

VW are justifying their course of action saying their policy is not to replace buckles alloys under warranty.. Doesn't mean much without some kind of back up to say they have reviewed and tested my wheels to verify they are fit for purpose and safe.

I'd contact your local Ctizens Advice Bureau for details - small claims court case? Doubt the local garage would represent themselves and have any convincing technical knowledge to explain all 4 wheels being buckled through abuse. Even less likely VW UK would send anyone. Would perhaps take someone from the AA/RAC as an independent advisor to push your side of the argument in court.

Im an engineer and deal with structural stuff for my work.

If someone approached me with concerns about repeated & unexpected failure of safety critical components I would be negligent if I didn't properly investigate it to determine no underlying material defect or safety issue.

Thats what I'm wanting them to prove but they're just dismissing it as the solution is too expensive.

Just so disappointing after spending so much on a top end VW that they really don't give a f**k about helping.
