Always owned this car outright too, have others in family (company car and a van) but this one my wife mainly drives and me at weekends etc, so low mileage and more for fun etc.

Looked at leasing, but can't see the sense for me on this car, even though its a lot of cash tied up in a car, but not sure leasing is better at all tbh.

Will 99% get a Clubsport now as was thinking of an R..... If they came with free leather and winter pack on the broker deals I have seen, would take one in a shot, even though there will be loads about in 3 years time come the next change.

Just want a deal on the Clubsport, I'm hoping some brokers may get options on them after the initial Jan - Mar orders have been taken... lets wait an see, always managed around 7-8% from dealer and good to fair PX price, as they know they can sell my car easy (low miles, dealer supplied, excellent condition etc) but we paid more or less list on an Edition 30, and I won't do that again.

I'm considering a R but i like the Clubsport also, i think they may hold their money better. I remember driving my mate's R and thinking i preferred my GTI PP as it felt like it was  lighter than the figures say and was more fun at slower speeds, so i imagine these are even better. Im looking at R's mainly as its a different car to my GTI but the more i think about it im tempted to get a Clubsport or even another GTI PP as they are a steal at the moment. I need a 5 door, i presume it will be available on the Clubsport ?
GTI manual PP, now sold  :-(

I can conform the GTI Clubsport will be 5 door as well, there are pics online showing this from the recent Portimao circuit press drive.

The clubsport has me tempted but I want one of the very last ones off the production line. My GTI PP is only a year old and would like to run it as close to two years as I can .I understand  there is a limited production time for the clubsport so will have to time it right.
Choosing the colour will be the hard part as usual

The colour will be the easy part for me, 'Oryx White'.  It's an awesome colour when you get it in the right light. Choosing the car Clubsport or Golf R will be the harder part for me.

It's weird isn't it. Even though the R is a far more accomplished car than the regular GTI, whenever I see one I give it a second glance. They just seem so much more special (to me), and I always have this feeling that the driver of a GTI made the sensible decision. I imagine that will just be magnified when the CS is on the road.

If I wasn't picking my R up in a few weeks (15 days and counting!) then I dare say I'd buy a Clubsport.

I was going to ask the question of whom of you on this forum who own a Golf R would contemplate GTI Clubsport as their next car and why?

I've just been up close to a Lapiz Blue 3dr R while at work and because I know what it is, I love it but my brother, who is not a car guy, thought it looked very ordinary. He even said the wheels ( Prets ) looked awful.
I sort of know where he's coming from as the R is certainly a tad understated for what it actually is. Apart from the 4 exhausts obviously.
I'm a fan of the wolf in sheep's clothing look but I do think the GTI has a bit more about it.
I think this is what may sway buyers into the Clubsport. That and the fact that it will certainly be a rarer car than the R.
It's also a shame that you can't have the R in carbon grey or tungsten silver, two of the best colours.
It's all about personal choice thankfully.
PS
I have still to see a GTI in my neck of the woods. I'm sure there are must be plenty but I can't spot one.

The only GTI I see in my neck of the woods is my own.  I have seen GTD's and the odd Golf R on rare occasions, but no GTI's.  I suspect I may put off any desires of owning a Golf R until the MK8 is released and probably go for the GTI Clubsport this time, but we'll see for definite once the standard spec details of the Clubsport are released.
