Instead because of leasegate you now have guys who were formely driving clapped out Clio's and Corsa's etc sitting in a car they would never have been able to afford. These guys are going to have a major problem when their lease ends and i would be intrigued to see what they end up in.
What problem?
They'll just pull the dust covers off their SORN'd Clios and hit the roads again!
The canny ones will just pick up another cheap lease from whatever manufacturer is doing cheap sporty car lease deals at the time, the others will chalk it down to experience and just move on. Not all of them will have fallen in love with their R's. I think the plaudits from the press will keep the values pretty decent by mass produced throw away society car standards. VW tend to be pretty good for retaining value and hot Golfs even better (up to a point).
