No

Because every time there is one, it seems to knacker your Sat Nav - as I seem to have one where postcode search works, auto zoom has not got an weird mind of its own, so I've left mine.

But If I put in postcode search - then it lets me select house number and street.

it's a bit poor of VW to get this stuff wrong, i think they possibly updated mine when I had my oil change, graphics look better, even got my first 3D building showing up today - Exeter Cathedral !!!!!

With mine I just have to put the first 3 postcode numbers and it takes me to the street request. Something is not quite right. I give up.

Does your postcode option allow you to input house numbers?  Or does it do the same as mine and say "no street data available"  However the data is available if you input the old school way (Town, Street Etc) go figure

Well I have an original Nav Pro from 2013 running hardware H41 and software 0200 and mine does this as well. I have I think got a bit of a work around, however it's weird that it involves not inputting the full post code.

If I am trying to find an address with the standard 7 digit post code - (for example I will use a chip shop in a village near me), If I input it's full post code - in this case - "WA13 0AB", I then get no option to enter a street address. I can only assume the Nav believes the 7 digit code is near enough to a small area to be able to find your address ?

However, If I enter only the first part of the code e.g. "WA13 0", I can then press the list button which gives me the towns under this post code (usually only one or two), then then is a list for street names to select from (again usually only very small), then you can select a street number. Obviously this is useless if all you have is the full post code and not the street name.

Like I say, it sort of defeats the point of a full 7 digit look up, but as I say, I can only assume the 7 digit area is quite small. This is what Wikipedia says about the last 2 digits that make up a 7 digit post code (called post code units)

"The postcode unit is two characters added to the end of the postcode sector. Each postcode unit generally represents a street, part of a street, a single address, a group of properties, a single property, a sub-section of the property, an individual organisation or (for instance Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) a subsection of the organisation. The level of discrimination is often based on the amount of mail received by the premises or business. Examples of postcode units include "SW1W 0NY", "PO16 7GZ", "GU16 7HF", or "L1 8JQ"

This sounds like they could do with putting a bit of old and new hashed together!

My current car ( 2011 Seat Leon FR) has the old RNS310 nav system. This (pile of crap) will only accept a 5 digit code CB6 1, IP24 2...etc. Once you input the 5th digit it gives a list of street names, then you can add the house number etc

Sounds like the new ones will take the post code, and then send you to that area....this could be a mile square in some cases!!

In reality, if they put the 2 together it would work wonders..full post code, select street and then house number..bingo

As someone else said...TomTom have been doing this for about 10 years

In built car sat nav systems have always been behind when it comes to full UK postcode entry or at least taken some time to catch up.

I think some of the systems in French cars like the DS3 still don't accept full UK postcodes.

No - mine does the same - if you put in postcode it just goes to that postcode but then, that's what i would expect it to.  Dependent on where you live, postcodes can cover a large area, if you want the Sat Nav to find an address, put in an address, I don't really see the issue.

If you are asking your Sat Nav to find a Postcode - you're asking it to find an area - I am sure there are systems that will let you put an address in and I am sure there are times when you need the postcode search to be specific but in general, and i use my nav a lot for work, I rarely if ever do a postcode search.

The 'no street data' is just telling you the postcode is covering a larger area and not a specific street (I think)

A fully updated rns510 was better than the mib1 generation units. It auto loaded radio logos and it gave you full 7 digit postcode search including address. I love the screen on my nav pro but the rns510 was better technically.
TCR, Pure Grey, DCC, Dynaudio and Climate Screen.
