If I don't buy an RS3 Craig my abiding memory will be from Saturday blasting down some B roads with a biker chasing me and then backing off when he heard the 5 pot engine clunking through the gears !!

You know you are in a fast car when only a biker wants to take you on..
Daily drive - LCI BMW 330 D Estoril Blue & Saddle leather. M sport + Pack / Prof Nav / Head Up / Heated Seats
On the way - CS ed 40 tornado red, manual, 3 door
Weekend fun - low mileage portofino blue 1997 Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo
2017 Build Slot reserved for BMW M2

Andy you only live once mate. If you have the funds and its something that will give you a huge smile every time you step in it then why the hell not. All the other cars are no doubt fantastic but you may have that tinge of regret that you didn't just take that extra step.

I must say the RS does look fantastic. This popped up on my Facebook feed today of a customer collecting their new sepang blue RS3.

That looks stunning!!!

Is there time for me to cancel my R and save up another £10k?

Lol, it is awful.  Kind of detracts from the intent of the car. Number plate suits the driver though.  He does look like a Bob.

I'm sure there's plenty of people who could pay off half their mortgage waiting on an R with Prets to arrive!

there is no denying it isn't a cheap car.. and there is always the "what else can you buy for the money" but that applies at 20k, 30k, or 40k - you can get a 911 for the price of a golf GTi..

but I don't have the time for hassles and breakdowns so that performance, practicality etc is a compelling package with a 5 year warranty.. and RS3s hold their value incredibly well, which is a consideration.

My old 911 was much less than £42K... and it was utterly reliable (in 3 years and ~50k miles)... and needed servicing once per year... had 4WD... averaged around 28mpg... OK, it wasn't all that practical but it was not a "tuned up" hatchback, drive a car designed as a sports car and you'll feel the difference...
