Yeah the Windows 10 thing is legit, I'm not getting any pop up to download it yet though

It's available to pre-download already apparently, two of my friends have already downloaded it.  I'm getting no advisement to do so though.

They will be on Technical Preview.

Installed it myself last night, now the laptop in question just hard resets at login screen, gotta love Windoze.

Now working after numerous reboots and some unfortunately necessary jiggery pokery.

No more impressed with Windows, let's put it that way.

I've got 40gb spare on the SSD which just has Windows on it, all my music etc is on separate drives. Just had a spring clean and dumped all the old update installation files and gained myself 12gb back too...

I would say its better to register your interest for it, let the PC download it but don't install it yet (on release date) as it will be full of bugs.

So much for all that supposed hardening M$ did to the code base a few years back..

"Most secure Windows, ever!" etc.

Pwned.

Alright, windows 10 is out and available to download/install. How many of you have upgraded to it and what are your thoughts?

I just downloaded iso file from microsoft to do clean install but not going to install it as yet.

Hi,

I did mine few days ago. Everything appears to run OK, but startup and user switching seem really slow compared to 7. I've got the OS on a USB so when I can face all the software installs I'll do the clean install.

There where some patches released/installed last night but I've not checked them out yet

It looks clean and modern I guess, there were some useful apps and things like resource monitoring offer more detailed information.

Just make sure you backup your PC as an image if you can so there's a fast way back if you aren't happy.

Only thing I still need to check in detail is the second graphics card. I noticed quite a few folk complaining about them not working at their best/not auto switching etc.

Laptop if you are wondering is an Aliens are that's couple of years old.

I'll do some more testing at the weekend.

Cheers, Neil.
